Bama Dude Has Sketchy Take On 2009 BCS

Do we know the size of the forearms on the Bama dude that wrote the article?
I was about to respond to this, but something tells me this might be a continuation of you long-timers' inside jokes...and then I'd risk being the idiot.
What was the topic here again??
Do you guys need a separate "Nastalgia Thread"?
For the record...from the size of his head, he is either disproportionately forearmed or they are smallish.

Injuries happen. We did not have an adequate substitute quarterback available. Alabama did dominate most of the game after that. It is a shame because I think we probably would have won the game but we can't discount that Alabama may also have risen to the occasion if the game was more competitive. I'm okay with one title every 15 years. So we have three more seasons to keep me happy.

There is something that always gets forgotten about this game due to Colt's injury and Bama's win.

This game contains the worst play call in the history of NCAA football when you consider the situation and that the NC was at stake.

The opening drive of the 1st quarter of the NC game.
Bama's ball at their own 20 yard line.
4th and 23.
...fake...punt

Are you kidding me?
I don't think it's even debatable that this is the worst call in the history of football.
If Texas wins this game, Saban would have been a laughing stock.

And I've heard the response that it was an "automatic audible" based on their wide guy not being covered. It doesn't matter. That call can't happen in the 1st quarter, 0-0, deep in your own territory, with 20+ to gain, with the NC on the line. It's unconscionable.

It was a major coaching error even if it was a player audible and not an intentional call. Tell the punter before he goes out there not to audible no matter what in that situation.

Saban's no dummy. He knew they were in trouble. I guarantee you he wouldn't have allowed the call had he known Colt was about to go down. This (the "fact" that he wouldnt have called it) tells you most of what you need to know about the matchup and the game IMHO.

It was the 4th play of the game. You think he was already in desperation mode?

It's still a huge blunder IMO. Saban was very fortunate Colt got hurt and his team won the game or he would have been crucified for that play.

No, not exactly. I do believe...and always have...that Saban has great coaching intuition and had some serious concerns about that game. They were going to get some yards on the ground, struggle in passing, and we were going to kill them through the air. The last thing Saban wanted was to play from behind in that game.
And, yes...agreed...a terrible play call.
