With him being our top "committed" recruit and only DL prospect he is a must keep. Besides FSU, does anyone know the other two schools he plans on visiting?

he was supposed to be at the alabama game this past weekend, but instead he took in TCU/kstate

when all is said and done i think he ends up signing with the horns

He has said he plans to reschedule bama, and i want to say he has said he plans on visiting U$C. I do like that this kid was upfront with our staff and told them he was going to take some visits. I agree I think we will still land him.

Yeah, doesn't sound good. May be he has been reading many of the posts. There is a lot of venom. Hornfans is pretty benign compared to Shaggy. Reading some of those posts is embarrassing. Mack and his family don't deserve it regardless of the state of the football program.

It's not the venom of the fans that sways these recruits. It is the quality of the play on the field, the quality of the coaching and the prospects for winning. Texas is getting hammered in the media and by opposing recruiters on all three counts.

You would be surprised, Branyon. I know many players and their families do indeed frequent fan sites from time to time. Friends of the family, neighbors, acquaintances. Word gets to them and they do see things sometimes.

There have been instances at other schools that it was well known the parents came under attack and minds were changed. Thin-skinned, perhaps but it is what it is.

We have some very embarrassing elements to our fan base at times.

I know I'm really late to this party, but I just watched some A Robinson clips on a free site somewhere (don't remember if it was rivals) and the guy looks like a dominating LT. It reminds me of L. Davis from 1997 when he played DT and got stood up a lot, then switched and became a dominating LT, and still is at 34 years of age.

Bottom line: let's sign this guy - I don't care where he plays.

Per Hookem.com, the Robinson camp has been pretty quiet. The folks at Hookem feel that Texas is in a good spot, but who knows. Supposedly, he took the Alabama trip without his momma and, according to Hookem's sources, that bodes well for the good guys. Time will tell.

According to BamaOnLine, the 'Bama guys said Robinson's visit went well, but they think it's going to be an uphill battle to pull him away from Texas. Apparently, USC is still working on him too but most seem to think it’ll be tough for him to leave the state. I guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks.

Thanks also Danno,

With the haul we have on the OL, we need Robinson bad to beef up the DL.

Please come to TEXAS A' Shawn.

Per Hookem.com, A'Shawn's visit went very well and likely went a long way to reaffirm his commitment. Apparently, he attended the basketball team's morning shoot around had a productive visit with Rick Barnes who reportedly did a heavy sell job on the kid---not trying to sell him on being able to play both sports, but about the benefits of coming to Texas to help him achieve his goals both on and off the field. Time will tell, but all seems positive in terms of keeping Robinson in the fold.

P.S. - Also, per the folks at Hookem, Saban is visiting Arlington Heights and doing his in-home with A'Shawn today.

Per the guys at Hookem, A'Shawn's visit with Saban went extremely well. So much so that those guys believe it is now a Texas-Alabama (with USC now in third) contest for the kid. One source seems to think that Alabama now leads for his commitment; however, Robinson reportedly told Hookem's source that he is still unsure about what he will eventually do. All that being said, Robinson continues to say that staying closer to home is a major attraction for him and his family.

Sounds like this one will indeed go down to the wire, which I guess should surprise no one.

I too don't like how this is looking. Dragged out down-to-the-wire things have rarely gone our way. R.J.

Before you hit the panic button, someone please list the names of players who have decommitted in late Jan or early Feb or switched on signing day in the Mack Brown era.

The list is short. I don't know of any.

The fact is he remains a Texas commit.

Yes, last minute de-commits have been quite rare for us. But so have been our commits taking visits this late. If you look at the cases when blue-chips were still on visits this late, our record is pretty bad. R.J.

Getting both Robinson and Billings would make me smile a whole lot.

According to Hookem, despite Bo Davis' in home visit this morning, A'Shawn will be going to Alabama. No surprise I guess if true, especially with the crappy defense we've been putting out on the field while 'Bama has been winning the crystal trophy 3 out of the last 4 years.

At the same time, I'm so tired of kids committing to a school, keep/start looking while telling the school they "are still committed as of right now," and then flipping at the last minute. "Commitment" no longer means what it used to mean--so little integrity left in the world. I know, I know...it cuts both ways and it's the way things are now. But I don't have to like it.
