Article on Plonsky

I think some are making this more complicated than it needs to be. Female head coach this, male head coach that. Do we support a meritocracy or don't we?

I don't know who the best head coach for a job is, but I know if they don't get it done in 3-4 seasons, they need to be replaced.

In soccer, neither Petrucelli or Kelly was/is getting the job done, recruiting was/is inconsistent, progress towards championships was/is not happening.

My complaint with Plonsky is she is too tolerant of mediocrity.

The more I think about this article, the more I wonder why Chip Brown wrote it. If you know about Chip Brown, you know he is all about the attention as far wanting to be known and praised for being an investigative reporter as it pertains to sports, particularly Longhorn football.

He was very active in writing/investigating about all the conference realignment stuff several years ago. Since then, with nothing major like that going on, he really has nothing to report about on a national level, and just isn't being noticed as he can't necessarily make up the news.

Has he ever written about our women's athletics program before? Probably not. Does he care whether or not Texas women's soccer or softball wins? Most likely not. So, why spend all that time and effort writing about something he probably doesn't follow, and doesn't care about? Probably because someone fed him all the information; someone who wanted to use Chip's reporting as a platform to expose things they want exposed. I realize it's just my opinion, but I think someone has an agenda regarding Plonsky; and, it's not Chip; he's just the conduit.

Now, I'm not saying what he reported is not accurate or not factual. I am definitely not defending Plonsksy for any of her alleged actions or decisions. I want all our programs to be competitive and successful. So, that's what I care about. But, you have to wonder about Chip's motivation for all he put into that article.
