Yeah, it's true. Most of the talking heads ignored the fact that we started 4 frosh and a soph with Durant. I think the TX fans knew we had an impressive core, better than expected. similar to when Ford left.

Actually, I should say, during the Baylor game, it occurred to me how much depth we are going to have in the next couple of years. Especially in the front court.

Mo Evans and its not even close? At UT, Mo Evans was either a 3 point shooter or a dunker. James can shoot the 3, drive(moves will get better and better), handles as well as Mo did and is more athletic. James will be a more than fine 3 in the NBA. But he's not a guy that would get drafted this year. As for DJ, if he's tired now, why would a team expect him to be able to make it in the NBA right now. I think he stays and we kick arse next year.

James will make a nice poor man's Shawn Marion in the NBA i think. I don't see the guy having any trouble playing SF at the next level. He'll need to improve his handle a little obviously, but I absolutely do not see James as being a typical tweener that will struggle to find a place in the NBA. I think he is more of a true SF that is forced to play PF because of our system (like Marion) than he is a PF who will have to switch to SF because of height limitations.

I would submit the consensus view on this board had Texas at 3rd or 4th in the conference.

Nobody thought this was going to be a potential 2 seed in the tourney.

Point being that Barnes could take some guys from intramurals and field a team. Give him some talent that buys into the defensive philosophy, which seems to be happening this year, and you can get a very strong team.
