This has been uttered by more than one person.

I think the initial, "I'm done" comments are in the context of being done with Herman's version of the Longhorns.

So a person becomes upset at the sonic speed of the changes and the equally rapid comments by Herman that basically say, "You're a racist, you need to admit it and if you don't then you're not the kind of fan we want because you won't let our players date your daughter or you won't hire them." It is aggressive and the emotional blow-back was possibly even more aggressive. Time passes, cooler heads start to prevail, even in the minds of those who were initially outraged and the feeling becomes, "Wait a minute. THEY are the one's who hate the school legacy and history. Why do I have to be the one to leave? They can leave. So your sense of love and loyalty comes roaring back and you want to fight for your vision of the school, while at the same time being progressive with the times.

You could possibly hear the long-time fans having this internal conversation over all of this:

"Ok, it's true; Confederate statues or segregationists should not be in a position of glory and status on our campus. No problem. But our song is where the line is drawn, yet I'm being told none of this is negotiable. Why? Why am I (Joe Orangeblood) being labeled as evil and with no standing to remain as a valued alumnus though I am providing my spirit and my money enabling these young men to have the time of their lives, ride with football glory and gain an education and diploma provided that is coveted by so many other prospective students? Why am I the bad guy here who can either love the new or leave it?"

Burning their LH swag and never watching another game.

Oh, there are some beloved posters on here with over 1000 posts and some with twice my posts that don't show up as contributors.
But it's only brought up when you disagree and then you want to shame me for it.
Why aren't you calling those others out on a daily basis if it means that much to you?
I will contribute.
And you may never know of it.
As a matter of fact, I think I will ask Dion if I can contribute without it showing anywhere.
Then you can continue to feel better than and shame me for it.

One of the few things Tom Herman has got right since he got here,IMO. And threads like this one just prove our fans areNt much different. proud of the school, proud of the championships. Not able to relate to a majority of the players though, or even try.
“Just shut and dribble” seems to be the prevailing attitude with little to no effort to relate.
it’s their sport, it’s their team, it’s their championships. We’re just the fans. I’ll Always be a fan of the players as much as I am the burnt orange.

I get your explanation but Im 59 and have never heard it that way. The shortened version 'money talks' is verrry common.

He-Man's uncalled for rant against the fans was just stupid, even if you have the same opinion as he does.

He insulted and alienated a huge percentage of the fans - that'a a fact, regardless of if you think they should not have been insulted or not. I'm not exactly sure where entertainers got the idea that insulting half your fans is a good idea. For movies they've gotten away with it from foreigner ticket sales, but about zero chance of China starting to watch UT football games, instead of folks from La Grange.

Apparently it did nothing to get his players to play well for him, or even hard. The both DL and OL were being manhandled off the line of scrimmage, not just by OU, that's expected from a Herman / Strong / Mack from 2010 on coached team. But TCU whipped up on the Texas lines like 5A playing 3A. Sad to watch, if you care about the Texas team.

Now he's out in no man's land. Little fan support, team doesn't seem to follow or listen to anything he says, despite the only Sunday practice better that the one they just had, will the one next week. In a must win situation next week against, well, err, Baylor, with the Texas football program once again being the laughing stock of college football - all that money, all that potential, 1-2 in conference and in 8th place.

Is it technically possible for him to turn it around - I suppose so, there's only one team on the remaining schedule he doesn't have a winning record against - OSU. But doubtful to get through the next 6 game with fewer than 2, probably 3 losses.

The problem with shooting off your mouth at work, and alienating your customers, is that then you put everything based on your results. There's no margin for error, as no one really likes you, and they just keep you around if you can deliver. When you can't anymore, or in Herman's case, apparently never could, he's like a chicken that's stopped laying eggs. Time to get the hatchet and fire up the grill.
