Sorry Nash, but others on this board have deemed your statement bs. We have top 10 if not top 5 talent, even though no recruiting service thinks so. (Remember if we sign them and they never play/can't stay on the field/get suspended/arrested/etc, that player, though a 4 or 5 star, cannot contribute to the team).Get UM and first thing you’ll realize is we do NOT have the depth of talent many believe. Yeah we have a few talented players but overall we are very overrated on player talent. Just my opinion watching so much other football this year (and last).
Good write up...but I disagree with this. The results of the next 7 weeks will determine the future of the Texas program for years to come.
There you go, Sap...beating the dead Salmon again. Not tobut this hits at at the heart of why I grew to hate Mack Brown by the end of his tenure. Once I realized we had fallen behind the Baylor and TCU's of the world and Mack wasn't going to bring us back to the halcyon days we had enjoyed, an awful reality set in. The only way the needed coaching change was going to happen was for us to start losing enough games that the admin would have to pull the plug. My fear was we'd enjoy the worst kind of success going 10-3, 9-4 every year but never take the next step. Mark Richt at Georgia, in short. I believe that's what would have happened if we had kept Mack.
So my apathy grew as well as my indifference to the losses and I found myself doing something I never thought possible, when we were in a game that could go either way I started to want our team to lose so Mack would be that much closer to being fired. This carried over to the Charlie Strong years where I was flat out rooting for Kansas to pull out the upset ; surely, surely, that should be enough to get Charlie Strong out the door. I feel the same way about this team now. I don't care if we win another game this year if that's what it will take for change. It's sad.
Is our lock on Urban as strong as our lock on Saban was?
6 games remain, with only perhaps the KU game being considered easy.
Nash, I have to strongly disagree. Great coaching can do wonders with good — but not great —talent. Herman can’t do squat with what is likely the best talent in the conference. And if it’s not the best, it’s certInly not inferior talent, again when compared to the rest of the conference.Talent wins. Mediocre coaching aside If the talent is superior they will win.
As bad as this season's level of play has been, it still doesn't approach the level of undisciplined, uninspired crap we saw for three years of Charlie. This year is the worst level of play I've seen since John Mackovic's last season here, although CS three years were pretty awful.
Why are these people that "will not watch a game this season, I'm done with the Horns" still here?Since Ehlinger is the only real Longhorn on this "team", and he can't win a game by himself, I am stuck hoping these malcontents lose.
Because we choose to be. Although still TBD, not watching football, VB or soccer games and non-support of the turds on theses teams does not equate to lack of concern for the direction in which our alma mater is headed. Why are these people that "will not watch a game this season, I'm done with the Horns" still here?
If you don't like us being here then GTFO.If you're done with the Horns then GTFO.
Lots of malcontents here, including you. We're not content with the players, coaches, administration and you're not content with us. A perfect circle of discontent.Who's the real malcontent here?
You must be quoting someone I have on Ignore. He must still be telling people to GTFO? Ha, what a joke. You make a great point about still being concerned but tuning out with this group of malcontents.Because we choose to be. We shall see, but I have been convinced that TH has lost most of the fans, and that his main sin in doing so was convincing the team that "nothing outside this lockerroom matters". He successfully planted the notion of "us against the world" in the players' heads. Unfortunately, it seems the fans and the University itself are part of the world our players are against. By contrast, Mack always went out of his way to tell the players to thank the fans (and unfailingly did so himself) and etc. While Mack could build an us against the world mentality with his teams too, Mack's version of us against the world was far more nuanced than the current version we are experiencing.Good point Sangre. The reason I picked Mackovic was due to his winning the last SWC Championship and the First B12 Championship and followed those up with a horrible sub .500 season including the UCLA "Rout 66" losing 66-3 at home. TH isn't there yet, but this season has so far been very lackluster. There are six games left with several games against teams that are doing pretty well and capable of mudholeing our guys. I believe, but not certain, the Kansas games could be the game that decides whether Tom gets one more year, or is told to leave. I also believe we finish 5-5 at best. I hope I'm wrong.
As much I disliked Strong he never completely lost control of his team. He also didnt have the overall talent that Herman has. He also was not in the same situation Herman is. Strong was also not a immature child that Herman exhibits.Good point Sangre. I think we have the "talent" to win most games. We probably have the talent to win big games against most top ten teams on some occasions.
This type of "news" is all too common and hard to argue against.Yes, you are correct, we have the talent to produce much better results, and that is the sad part. We don't!
HE lumped every single one of us in the category of non-caring bigots, and he further embarked on a misplaced chastising the fans.
