Thx for your updates and - of course - staying focused on this for the rest of us.

The "other Bill" (from Lake Travis) who sitteth at the feet of Jesus on recruitocosm, has a little bit longer list (and someone added yet another... although the extras are "maybes" depending on whose site you read):

In reply to:

Thanks for the information longtex. I usually wait till it is on Rivals before I add them so I will add Ward to my list as soon as it is official which will probably be soon. Thanks again!

Would 25 TE's be enough?
Three good ones who could stay healthy should fit the bill. Hopefully Irby will be a major player this season.

don't usually post on this board, but:

6'9" 310, 4.6 40?

those are some crazy stats, sounds like a typo to me.

how about 6'8" 290, 5.6? Even with those stats, wouldn't that be more realistic?

If you look at his highlights, there is no way the guy runs a 4.6. I did see a comment that Texas was looking at him for both football and basketball. If he wants to also play basketball, it will definitely hurt him as a football player. He is weak and doesn't have good fundamentals, so he will need to focus on football if that is what he wants to do at the next level.

As an update as of today (04-03-11 at 10 P..M.) we have the following commitments. We received two verbals today, Bear in mind that these are verbals and non binding until the Letter of Intent is signed next February. They are in order received:

1. QB Connor Brewer of Arizona
2. LB Alex De La Torre of Denton Ryan
3. DT Alex Norman of Dallas Bishop Dunne

12. OT Camrhon Hughes of Harker Heights
13. WR Cayleb Jones of Austin High
14. DT Malcom Brown of Brenham
15. LB Timothy Cole of Brenham

We have 4 In State Offers and 8 as Out of State Offers for a total of 12 outstanding offers.

The 6 In State offers are as follows:

1. RB Johnathan Gray of Aledo
2. OL Kennedy Estelle of Pearland Dawson
3. OL Michael Starts of Waco La Vega
4. DT Javonte Magee of Sam Houston in San Antonio

The following are the 8 Out of State offers:

5. DT Eddie Goldman of Washington D.C.
6. ATH Nelson Agholor of Tampa, FL (Probably RB or WR)
7. DT Issac Gross of Mississippi
8. OT Vadal Alexander of Georgia

I think our chances of getting any the OOS recruits are low but then I didn't think we would get both Mr. Brown and Mr. Cole so that shows how much (little) I know. I know there may be others of interest but I go by Rivals, Inc as my official source before I post changes.

I still rate our chances of getting any out of state recruits as very low but then I didn't think we had a chance to get both Mr. Brown and Mr. Cole so that shows how much (little) that I know.

Culled from various sites (Recruitocosm, Shaggy, open forums on a couple of pay sites)...

Apparently now being recruited (or at least on UT's radar):

OL Greg Brantley (Carthage)
DB Daniel Brooks (Rockdale) (ou commit)
DB Landon Collins (Geismar, Louisiana)
DE Torshiro Davis (Shreveport, Louisiana) (LSU commit)
DT Quay Evans (Morton, Mississippi)
DE Danielle Hunter (Katy)
DB Ryan Reid (Sherman)
DB Justin Thomas (Orange)
DE Channing Ward (Aberdeen, Mississippi)

Possibly on the verge of an offer:

WR/DB Kendall Sanders (Athens) (osu commit)
Torshiro Davis

Added - Reportedly have offers (or at least claim to have offers):

WR Marvin Bracy - Orlando, FL
DE Channing Ward
WR Dominique Wheeler (?? I thought Texas dropped him from their offer list?)

UT is rumored to have stopped recruiting Eddie Goldman...

Added a player or two to the "maybe being recruited) list.

I don't know how many we can sign this year but I hope we can take at least 2-3 more offensive lineman

I be ecstatic with Estelle plus either Peat or Starts. Add those 2 with those Mack already has on board, and it's time to focus on a fast, tall&lanky head hunting-ball hawking safety. Surely there's one on the market somewhere...

Jesus sez: Estelle and Gray look to be the next commits to fall. Put Estelle down as 90% at this point just because he’s planning on taking visits to SEC country and that always poses a bit of a risk. We’ve told him he’s the cornerstone to this Oline class, he can play right away, and his parents love us. Our staff isn’t sweating this one is what I’m hearing.

That's over at The Link

The J.Gray love-feast has oveshadowed this one quite a bit, but there hasn't been any serious hand-wringing going on. As with M.Brown I and J.Gray, as well as others, the "parents love 'em some Texas" aspect has to be a solid part of the calculation.

Recruitocosm reports that Vadal Alexander will be doing an unofficial this summer and that the coaches are hoping it'll be for the June 5 Camp.

Looks like UT is backing off of Javonte Magee some. He's probably headed to Baylor.

Texas is also apparently going after Daniel Brooks of Rockdale a bit harder, but he won't even consider Texas unless there's a firm offer on the table...

You can also add a JUCO DL to the list:

DE Denico Autry of East Mississippi CC. He's supposed to visit in August. Recruiting depemds on his grades after the summer session though.

Forgot to add link, which also has other info: The Link

BS, if you base your school choice on a single game, you are an idiot. The only things that matter are who will prepare you best for life after college and in what location you would enjoy most for your 4 years of job training.

I think longtex is just saying that he would not blame recruits for taking a "wait and see" approach. If that is what he means, then I think that is understandable.

Check what I have written, no drinking Koolaid or Burnt orange glasses. I just do not buy into your assumption that Texas has gone to hell due to one down season when the players quit on the head coach because there were no leaders and the DC pouted and quit hen the HC didn't retire.

As I said, nothing in aggy's and Baylor's history suggests that they will not be more than one year wonders. Everything in history says Texas will continue to be competitive for the MNC.
