Alumni Game 2-1-25

A-Rod lines it up the gut for a base hit.

2 on
2 out in the 8th

Navarre with the K.

To the 9th, it's 6-3 Varsity.

Hodo steals 2nd
Rerick beans a batter

2 on
0 out

Rerick's pitches look good (fast fastball, good looking slider), but he's got some control issues.

Ugggh.

Rerick walks Dylan Campbell. 2 on for none other than..........................................Jack O'Dowd.

O'Dowd golfs it just above the dirt and grounds out.

To the bottom of the 9th (even through Varsity leads).

The lineup looks good, and with quality depth.

The relief pitching looks deeper than normal. Mercer looks good. Howard today: not too good, not too bad, but ok. He threw 80 pitches. Our staff might make a pitcher out of him yet.

Riojas and Ethan Walker look good. Walker was used as a stopper to work us out of a tough situation. Riojas may be a closer, a long reliever, or a starter. He's really good.

Well, I think we can safely say that Mercer, Riojas, and Volantis are going to work out on the mound. Same with Chamberlain at the plate.

It's hard to say who's better: Mercer or Riojas. 2 stars on the mound for us this year.

The new pitching looked very encouraging. And unless I missed it Schloss didn't even use Spencer, who I believe is projected to be one of the starters.

I don't remember seeing Spencer either.

It's possible that today was Howard's final "try out". I think he made the cut. Nothing spectacular, but probably good enough.
