Alabama to Austin: Bama's comin'

I've never liked bama. Couldn't stand Bear Bryant and I'm certainly no fan of Saban.

Remember this?
Alabama sneaks into College Football Playoff despite not making conference championship game [Link]

Still ticks me off! Didn't win their division (their D-I-V-I-S-I-O-N) so they didn't have to play for the SEC title, but they got into the Natty pool of 4 teams.

Maybe when we go to the SEC we can mimic bama and always schedule a cupcake in the next-to-last game of the season.

As an adjunct to that the origin of "Roll Tide " has racist ties. It "appears" to come from a reference to the CSS Alabama which was sunk by a Union ship. There was a popular sea chanty "Roll Alabama Roll" set to music of "Roll that Cotton Down" sung by black longshoremen.
All that is very silly and obscure, as obscure as trying to make the Eyes racist.
Just pointing out anything can be twisted.
Now the elephant, Big Al? Definitely racist. :headbang:

Another quasi-victory for us would be if the struggle to defeat us is so great and costly that Roll Tide leaves DKR so broken in body and spirit that they must relinquish all hope of attaining even an SEC championship, much less vie for the national championship.

Not fairly likely.

If it's a one score game in the 3rd, I think it happens because we get a special teams score and/or a few setups from good return or TO. Probably need to bake in a few TO's from Ewers. Our DL vs Bama OL will be interesting to watch and I think Texas has the edge there. Most nervous about Texas OL vs Bama DL. We outmatch in most skill positions but all of their units are talented and have been developed consistently. Bryce Young is no joke and Texas brings a blue chip QB with one start. Glad it's in DKR.

4 reasons Texas can pull off the
shocking upset of Alabama

#4
DeMarvion Overshown and Barryn Sorrell could wreak some havoc off the edge

The part of this Alabama team that probably has the most question marks of any position group on either side of the ball lies along the offensive line. And the particular area along this offensive line that is the most questionable lies at offensive tackle.

[T]he interior of the offensive line is more of a sure thing. That will make it more difficult for the Longhorns to get pressure up the middle, especially on pass plays.

#3
Ja’Tavion Sanders can be a problem for the Alabama defense

Sanders brings another dimension of versatility and potency to this Texas offense. He’s a capable blocker whether he’s lined up as a flex tight end or tethered to the offensive line. Meanwhile, Sanders is clearly a big-time weapon for Sark and the Longhorns to scheme up in the passing game.

It’s hard to find any clear answers for Alabama to matchup with Sanders that won’t mean they have to devote at least one extra resource to limit what he can do in the receiving game.

#2
Bijan Robinson can set the tone on the ground

The first way that Texas must attack the Alabama defensive front is up the middle. Alabama’s weak spot along the front seven is in the middle of the defensive line after the loss of stud defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis during the offseason.

#1
Quinn Ewers’ off-schedule throws can keep the Alabama secondary on their toes

Where Sark and the Longhorns can attack this Alabama defense is at the cornerback position. Alabama’s starting corners have some weak points....

Some crossing routes involving Worthy and Whittington could be a problem for the Alabama defense, as would be getting the likes of Bijan and redshirt junior running back Keilan Robinson out in space. There is also the threat that Sanders poses after the catch in this passing game.

Saban references last year's defeat at aggy....

Saban: “Everybody has heard that we’re 20-point favorites in this game, and the last time we were 20-point favorites and we went to Texas, we got our *** kicked.”

The Alabama defense has a clear EDGE versus Texas

For Alabama’s 2022 team, three of their defense’s biggest stars are located at EDGE with Will Anderson, Dallas Turner, and Chris Braswell.

Aside from keeping backs in to protect quarterback Quinn Ewers and help the Longhorn tackles, Sarkisian plans to utilize every available method to bolster his team’s ability to block Anderson, Turner, and Braswell. In the Texas win over Louisiana-Monroe, offensive lineman Andrej Karic wore No. 92 and lined up as a tight end on a handful of snaps.

Part of the reason behind the move was to shore up tight end depth in light of Jahleel Billingsley‘s NCAA suspension and give Jeff Banks‘ tight end room needed numbers. Against Alabama, it offers Sarkisian an extra blocker capable of assisting the Longhorn offensive tackles.

Starting a true freshman and an inconsistent senior against three of the best EDGE defenders in the nation is not an ideal situation for Sarkisian and company. The Crimson Tide trio create a distinct disadvantage for the Longhorn offense ahead of Saturday’s game.

Between max-protect sets and six O-lineman looks, Texas is pulling out all the stops to try and diminish the effect Anderson, Turner, and Braswell have on the game.

I am not very technical or savy so I kinda thought their analysis was good.
And I understood it.
I rely on you and a very few others to explain the real stuff.
