Alabama to Austin: Bama's comin'

But you have not offered any reason
I don't need no stinking reason. ;)
I'm half-*** just going overboard because it's UT vs Bama week.
But I also lived in Florida when, during a Dolphin presser, he arrogantly (like a dickweed) admonished the media for bringing up the Bama job.
He made it very clear that he was the coach of the Dolphins and would remain such.
Then literally the next day he's wearing a red tie at a Bama presser accepting the job.
So the media was right and he was a lying sack of dung.
And an arrogant dickweed.
I dislike him.
And that's all I have to say about that.

I don’t like him either moon, based on not much more than my gut. A good friend is a Michigan State fan and hates him for the way he treated them when he left, similar to how he handled the Miami deal. I could care less about the Spartans or the Dolphins, but he’s always felt dirty to me. Hell of a coach, but I don’t like him.

Nick Saban is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever known in my life.

I'm not sure why I just said that....

I live in Alabama now on the coast. My boat proudly displays the Texas state flag and a Longhorn flag. It got me lots of Horns down yesterday on the water with a couple of Horns up. Funniest was a state trooper who pulled up beside me and said “Sir - I need to give you a citation for your flags.” Then laughed and did Horns down. All good natured ribbing. Looking forward to when we even the playing field and play them every year.

When did you move from Nashville?

I sold my house in January and bought a beach house. I’m downsizing to a condo in Nashville in October so I’ll still have a place there too. My daughter is there and will stay after she gets married in the next year or so.

On3 lists OT Kelvin Banks in their top 5 freshmen standouts for week 1 in college football.

"Banks was Texas’ best offensive lineman on the day, surrendering zero sacks, hits or pressures in 26 pass blocking attempts..."

Yesterday's bama players quotes on the Longhorns:

Darrian Dalcourt
On the UT DL: “From the game they played last week, we saw they have a high motor and big size, definitely going to be a big challenge, high motor, big size, give a lot of effort.”
On the Texas heat factor: “Being big guys, I think we have to prepare with things like sodium shots, being able to keep hydrated, maybe drink extra water or Gatorade to keep the electrolytes in place. You drink that and we do a great job of keeping ourselves hydrated.”
On Hornfans members: "I want them all dead."

Jase McClellan
On if he grew up being a Texas fan: "My family members that were Texas fans wanted me to go to Texas and everything, But Alabama was the best place for me."
On returning home: “It’s fun. Most of my family members can see the game and are more attuned to it. More of them can come.”
On the Texas heat factor: “I would say it’s hotter here in Alabama during fall camp.”
On if he remembers the last Alabama-Texas game: “No, I’m not aware of the last time.”
On his impressions of Texas: “Just getting to them yesterday for the first time. Seeing that they’re a very fast defense. They’re very big at linebacker, big up front. A very talented team.”
On Hornfans members: "My mom's a member. She loves it. No one there knows she's really -------------'s sister."

Henry To’oTo’o
On Texas RB Bijan Robinson: “They’re a great overall team. It’s gonna be a huge challenge for us. We’re super excited to be able to challenge ourselves and play them. But Bijan’s a great running back. Everybody knows that, everybody sees that. He’s quick, elusive, finds holes that not an average back can find. It’s gonna be a huge challenge for us to be able to play gap defense and honing on what he does.”
On advice for playing on the road: "I think there’s an understanding that us going to Austin this weekend, it’s gonna be hostile, there’s gonna be a lot of noise, there’s gonna be a lot of people. So we’re excited and super juiced about it.”
On Hornfans members: "A bunch of drunks, weirdies, and pervs. I kinda like them."

cnb,

No offense, but Bobbie never knew what had happened until well after it happened. You might find it interesting how he came to be President of UT-Arlington.

The 5 biggest advantages Bama has over Texas on Saturday

The article lists and explains:
  1. Quarterback
  2. Experience in big games
  3. Pass russ
  4. Offensive line
  5. Coaching
[Link]

Those are pretty obvious; we'd all probably list those in our top 5 or 10.

I just think bama's gonna be back on their heels a bit in the first half due to our speed and tenacity. They may compose/adjust by the 3rd, but I still see it being pretty close in the 4th with us coming out on top by 1-7 points.

I say Texas has better RB, WR, and TE (skill players), but it may not matter if we can’t pass protect.

The best thing we have going for us is that nobody gives us a chance. If the team plays with an attitude and mistake free we keep it respectable until the second half, but too much size and talent down their roster is the ultimate answer. And we all know Saban will not let off the gas as he shouldn’t. When you have a big boy down on the ground, keep punching. It’s the same reason he scored against us late in the BCS and the reason his culture has won so many championships. Well that and the whole cheating issue.

Godz40 - sir, are you drinking booze this early in the day, again!?
We could pull off another Nebraska 1996. But I ain't puttin' any money on it.

Good point. NOBODY thought Texas had a chance that game vs Nebraska.

Kinda like vs. USC 2006.... University of Spoiled Children.

So, let me share a short story, comparison / reminder re: this upcoming Bama game.

Fall 1971, my Sr. year at FW Southwest HS. Homecoming game vs. FW Arlington Hts. HS.

We had a bunch of starters out (including me). Our record was 3-4 on the season. AHHS was 7-0. Local sportswriters said AH had the best team since they won a state title in 1948, blah, blah.

We were a huge DOG going into that game and EVERYONE said no way we would win.

ALL THAT NEGATIVE TALK PISSED US OFF & MOTIVATED US. We upset them - think final was 24-17. Our best game of the entire season!

SO! I'm hopeful this Horns team will be incredibly inspired being dogged all week your gonna lose, blah, blah.... then go out totally inspired, pissed off and focused to WIN Sat.!!!

Heights bites.

It's a done deal - UT Football beats bama football on Saturday!

How do I know?

Nick Saban has never beaten a team that lost to Kansas the prior year. The last time he faced such a team was 2007 Louisiana Monroe who beat the Crimson Tide 21-14 in Tuscaloosa. -- Kyle Umlang (@kyleumlang)
