Air Force

Even if they were in a normal alignment, if the CF catches that ball, there is no way for them to throw out Brown at home, defensive alignment was to cut off the play at home for anything short enough to make a play at home.

Kennedy hits it deep enough wouldn't have mattered what defensive alignment they had, it ends the game.
Yep. Could as well had been a sac fly.

Those come-from-behind wins and extra inning games can pay dividends later in the season. Meanwhile, glad we have a struggling Baylor coming to town for the weekend series, maybe a little more time to work out the kinks in this pitching staff.
And a game tomorrow night where Hurley can try to get back into it, and our young arms can get some innings. We may also see some Gumbo, Purchase*, and even young Ardoin.

I love this midweek series against Air Force the past few years, wish we would schedule the military academies for football and basketball too

Ugh, I don't like having to root against our military. AF made it worse last night by providing player pictures for the scoreboard IN THEIR UNIFORMS. It was uncomfortable for me.

Maybe Casey Cummings will play OF tonight.

Or would that be too much to ask?

The guy hits with a lot of power. He doesn't suck in the field.

2nd inning had a 2 run double by Gasparino and men scoring on wild pitches / errors. That was a 4 run 2nd inning.

It looks like Hurley has thrown well today. 1 run surrendered in 5.1 innings. Not too shabby. He's got a good curveball, although he's been hit pretty hard by some of the better bats we've faced. Good work tonight though.

Big Red comes in to relieve Hurley.

1 out
Man on first base

Hurley threw 77 pitches tonight, for a fairly efficient outing.

Shaw's numbers early in the season look butt ugly, but he's still one of our better relievers.

Uh oh.

Single. Man on 2nd comes in. Batter tries to stretch it to a double and gets thrown out!

5-2 us

To the bottom of the 6th.

Kennedy pops it up. 2B makes the catch falling back. The wind is messing with the fly balls a lot.

2 away.

Thomas to the plate.

Flores -- infield hit to 3B. AF 3B makes a difficult stop, but can't make a play.

Runners on 1 and 2.

Shoos at bat.

No outs.
