So I did just try to read up on the golf thing. The A&M Traditions club, which is on the west side of Bryan/College Station, was apparently getting quite a lot of land and money support from the City of Bryan. Adam sued to enjoin the project on the idea that the City was mis-spending the money. The district court held he (actually his real estate company) had no standing, the court of appeals reversed, and they apparently reached a settlement during the application to TSct part.
I am told that both golf courses are very good (the Traditions one is by Jack Nicklaus), but that the Miramont CC clubhouse, on the east side of town, is very grand. As you maybe saw yourself? Their website says you have to be invited by two current members to be considered to be a new member.
So, that part was against the City of Bryan, but I suppose he had underlying opposition to the University, too. In looking it up, there was another article that Mr. Adam was suing two of his former high-level bankers to keep them from competing.
