ACL 2008: Dust Bowl Part 2

Louis XIV was amazing. Much better than I was anticipating. Got up close to see N.E.R.D and while not for everyone, they put on an awesome show.

Was a little dusty when the crowds showed up and I'm sure that will get alot worse by Sunday. However, I'll take the awesome breeze and cool temperatures over some dust.

All in all a great first day for me.

Manu Chao was crazy! I ended up really close and it was a blast... Also saw Vamppie Weekend, M. Ward, Slightly Stoopid, Swell Season, and N.E.R.D... it was all good!

I was watching MAtes of state, and looked over and saw the screen for Gogol Bordello. It looked like a badass show. I don't really like their music, but in retrospect I should have gone just for the show.
Then I made the mistake of watching Mars Volta, because I had actually heard of them before and hadn't heard Manu Chao.... Lets just say Mars Volta brings "energy'.

What dust?

Byrne rules.

Gogol is cheese, but fun.

I don't get Mars Volta.

Bill Murray was all over the place.

John Fogherty was really good. He was the best show I saw. Still sounds exactly the same. He played damn near every hit. Plant and Krauss were good also. They sang the The Battle of Evermore and it was pretty damn close the Zeppelin version. That was awesome.

day 1 was pretty dusty but nothing unbearable. still got all kinds of **** coming out of my nose the next morning but it wasnt anything i wouldnt do again.

God I'm so bummed I had to miss it this year. But, as a trade off I got to see Amos Lee last week, am seeing Ray Lamontagne in October, and went to Jose Gonzalez' aftershow last night (and was way closer than I would have been at ACL).

Really liked Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band. I hated Bright Eyes with a passion, but his voice has chilled out. Or maybe he just sounds better live.

The CSS singer, Lovefoxxx, puts on a hell of a show.

Anyone notice some weird cell phone stuff? I know they put up a bunch of temporary towers around the park to help out. But my phone (Sprint) would frequently switch to the eastern time zone.

Dust certainly didn't bother me, but I did see some funny dudes walking around in masks looking like they were inspecting Chernobyl or searching for weapons of mass destruction.

All and all, a great ACL Fest...once again.

Dust was worse Friday for me, but that was probably because I was at the AMD stage for most of the day on Saturday and didn't go Sunday. The dust was really bad at the stage by the food booths on Friday.

Great festival and I especially liked Foo(as usual), Band of Horses, The Black Keys, and Flyleaf. Bummed I had to miss Vampire Weekend on Friday.

Dust kicked my *** too and still paying for it.
