Abilene Christian game

Have a daughter who is a ACU alum, son is a Sr at the University----not really caring who wins, since may mean end of Shaka (gotta remember I was there for Kaiser Bob in early '80's)--"Hook 'em?"

Texas looks like they are totally confused and surprised by the acu defense. They’ve had a week to prepare.
They are NOT prepared.

This is the maddening thing about Texas. We're only as good as Jones and Ramey. If they're off, we lose. I see other teams dictate the style of play, and wonder why it's such a problem for us. Shaka has got to get everyone else to take ownership.

We win the game with good D. If our shots fall, we open up a big lead. If they don’t, we win a tighter defensive game.

28-23 Texas at the half. Texas is playing great defense but ACU is out hustling the Horns. Again, no way ACU can keep this up. If they weren't playing us I would be drinking every time they have the ball.

In the First half, Kohl was a non factor. ACU went with a smaller lineup and played tenacious D like they were all on speed or something. That will probably continue, as I suspect their coach figured out he couldn’t pound it down low to Kohl against Sims. As pointed out above by others though, I don’t think they can keep up this pace all game.

Kai!!!!

What a finish to the half!

Horns up by 5.

:bevo::bevo::bevo:
Kai could be a big key to this game. When Sims gets it down low they double and triple team him. A cut by Kai inside and pass by Sims to Kai could pay dividends on the scoreboard. We did it once already.

I do not completely agree. We need to get these guys off of the offensive boards. They are doing a good job where most teams really struggle against us.
They are out toughing us on the boards.
They are out smarting the horns by clogging up our passing lanes and beating the Horns to the spot causing charges and turnovers.
Shaka and the other coaches need to get the team to play smarter and simpler.
The game should not be close.
Helter skelter chaos offense plays right into acu’s hands.

We made plenty of errors, but 2 out of 3 of those charging calls were BS. The ACU defender was not set.

Texas shows a lot of speed and ball movement...ACU is tenacious and relentless... but doesn't have quick bigs like we do.

We will "out athlete" ACU. They were already throwing up shots having no clue how to attack our defense in the last 10 min of the game. I wish we would learn from their effort because their effort combined with our talent would easily win this tourney.

I think acu is well conditioned and energy to keep it up.
We just have to play smarter and stop turning it over, make good passes, cut and roll to the hoop.
It’s ours to win or lose.

I will say, tap on the brakes everyone. ACU lost to Tech 51-44 in Lubock. If you think these guys are going to slow down. Think again as they allowed Tech 4 FG in second half. These guys can play, but I am confident that Shaka will find a way to win.

And there goes Kai with the first two buckets of the second half. Go Kai! Go Horns!
