I think kids should be encouraged to have their opinions; however like adults they should be able to defend their stance, justify that they have a educated thought -out opinion. I often challenge my students at school on their opinions--I may even agree with them, just to have them justify what they believe. It usualy doesn't take long to see if it is their opinion or something they heard on TV or from a parent.
