A Message for Chris Plonsky

"Do you have the LHN?"

No, I have TWC. But I do live in Austin and go to every home football and basketball game and as many road ones as I can.

Texas Taps,
If you are referring to Deed Restrictions or HOA covenants, they can tell you that external antennas are forbidden, but that would be wrong. The FCC very clearly specifies what restrictions that local jurisdictions can put on your ability to receive DBS or OTA signals:
See:The Link
The nazi's will swear up and down that you can't put up an external antenna, but you can. Just send a copy of the FCC rules to the HOA lawyer.

^^^ Good to know. I'm lucky enough to be able to receive digital broadcast signals in my home, but some folks in apartments can't or others that live on the edge of the coverage area

Jesus christ taps, get off your ******* high horse. The game wasn't sold out? Well ****, I only live in CHICAGO because it was the only job I could get after graduating and going through two ******* years of unemployment. Maybe I should just quit and come back to Austin, occupy downtown on weekdays and go to games on weekends. And again, if all of us who want to watch the game but don't have access to the LHN were to go, there wouldn't be enough seats.

And if you took the time to read my OP, you'd see that my problem isn't with the negotiations, it's with the fact that our own administration is actively preventing us from watching the game that should be easily watchable. First, Plonsky and gang restrict the rights to both the Rice game and the Kansas game to a network they haven't made available to all of us. Then, those of us who don't have a local provider that carries the LHN go online to watch the game, which Plonsky then goes and shuts down as many streams as possible, creating the extremely ironic situation where Longhorn faithful are watching a Longhorn game carried on the Longhorn Network on the KANSAS JAYHAWK NETWORK. Who the hell even knew that KU had a network until saturday night when we were all scrambling to find a stream.

You say I should put the team ahead of me? How about Plonsky and gang but the team ahead of money for a change? We ain't got enough already? We've sold out so much already, that now we're going to sell our fans out so they can't watch the game? **** that, they can take a break on enforcing the illegal streams for 6 hours a year so we can watch two meaningless games.

1. My, what an elitist attitude you have. Not everyone can afford to ( or wants to ) live in Austin. UT is the U of Tx, not the U of Austin. 2. Not all areas of the State have radio affiliates that carry UT football games. On top of that, radio streaming on the internet is blocked by the UT regime for many games.

My 3 degrees are from UT Austin, MBA 1988, Master of Music 1971, and B of Music 1969. Why did you say my I didn't attend school there? I also lived in Austin from 1966 until 1988. Moved to Amarillo to marry my husband. You are certainly making things up as you go. Get back on your horse.

Yeah, no ****. I'm one of them. In fact, I love my job at the University. So what is your point?

LHN is a joke at the current moment. If you get it great. But don't act like an internet fanboy if people are currently upset about being able to watch their alma matter on cable as in previous years.

Don't you find it odd that of all the people in this thread you are the only one trying to stand up for the blocking of Longhorn alums from watching the game and the only being a complete dick?

I remember when I moved away from Texas (Army) and ended up living on the East Coast there was no ppv nor package plans. I had to scrape and beg bars to carry maybe one or two games a year that was not the RRR, if even that. It was brutal and I sure took advantage of every chance to see them when I could. There was no internet to stream anything and no way to get radio broadcasts. I had the newspaper and a telephone that sometimes found its way next to the tv set or radio so I could hear it. That was dedication!

I drove from Baton Rouge to witness Route 66, ugh. I also am so very glad to be back in Austin. I sure wish that there was cable the way it is now, satellite tv available and for sure the internet back then. It would have made my go of it much easier but I still found a way.

I don't know that some of you deserve to watch the team given the way you act out on the internet. Maybe you are just having a bad day or decade or something.

Me: "The LHN has nothing to do with fairness (and hopefully you didn't think that was my point)."

You: "Do you have the LHN?"

Me: "No, I have TWC. But I do live in Austin and go to every home football and basketball game and as many road ones as I can."

You: "Is it unfair that you don't have LHN? "

Me (Now): Un____ing believable. See my first statement in this post.

"^^^ I guess you're an advocate for the disenfranchised "

Like everything else you respond to me with, couldn't be further from the truth.
