A Message for Chris Plonsky

To answer the original question, unauthorized streaming is called "leakage" and is seen as a bad thing that is financially detrimental to the rights holder of the production. Texas is responsible for enforcement of the LHN rights so if they don't do their job IMG and ESPN can claw back money. (Texas goes after anyone who uses its trademarks without permission with the same gusto.)

As others have said, the bitching to a customer service person does no good as they can do nothing to help. The bitching should be directed to Powers, Dodds and Plonsky. I would think that if the LHF told Dodds and Powers that either they force the games on the LHN to be shown on ESPN3 until the satellites and Time Warner and Comcast signed-on or the LHF would start withholding promised payments, we could at least watch on ESPN3.

As far as women's sports, Seattle's comments are spot on. However it is not just WBB; it is everything except golf and swimming. How the University who strives for superior play on the men's side can put up with mediocrity and non-competitiveness on the women's side is mind blowing.

I am also upset about the basketball games that we won't be able to watch. And haven't they already offered up games next year when there is no reason to believe that this problem will be fixed by then either?

UT should have never agreed to put the games on the network until a major cable provider was on board in the Austin metro area.

I guess I am showing my age, but I remember the ABC GAME (singular) of the week. I understand that things change, but I dont understand this mindset that you should be entitled to watch every single game. Poor babies, cant find anything else to do? How about spending time with your kids, wife, grandkids.....There are lots of constructive things you can do. Sorry if you dont get your way. I realize its all about you. Just fill out the whinny-***-baby form and send it in. I'll get right to work on it.

I just love this sense of entitlement.

Some of us live 600 miles from DKR and aren't wealthy enough to toodle down to Austin multiple time a year.

I for one don't feel entitled to watch every Longhorn game on TV. However, it is frustrating to hear the school tout a major accomplishment that to this point is really just a step backwards. In years past, if no one would pick up the Kansas game, we could watch it on Pay Per View. Now it is simply not available.

Plus they even blocked radio on the web. I spent 10 minutes trying to find radio before I found the Kansas TV station. I don't even have a radio in the house anymore although I could get one cheap enough, it just never occurred to me that radio streaming would be blocked.

As to the TEAM > me, you ever consider that the fans could be considered TEAM and Dodds and Belmont considered the "me" part. The players aren't getting any of that 300M, so they sure as hell aren't TEAM in this equation.

Well, how 'bout this. Give it a chance. The BTN was a flop at the start, and from what I hear (I dont watch pro sports), not everyone has the NFL network. Sometimes the answer may be NO. Thats life.

"no one in their right mind would or should turn down $300 million."

That's part of the problem. ESPN overpaid and Texas overtook. It's like a pro athlete who signs a huge contract, but isn't worth it and is then cut (when they wouldn't have been if they had agreed to a smaller contract amount).

The number could have been alot smaller than $30M and still given the exact same amount to the non-athletic side of the university.

"There should be an even financial share among FBS teams to be fair. Who's with me?"

The LHN has nothing to do with fairness (and hopefully you didn't think that was my point).

Perhaps I/we shouldn't feel entitled to see every game given the past; however, when a school, such as Tennessee, gets more games on watchable channels than the ever-so-rich Longhorns, then there is a problem.
Plus, my gluttony aside, won't this have an adverse effect on recruiting if half the televised basketball games won't actually be seen?
