5 Star Malik Jefferson has narrowed his list down

For what it is worth a lot of flights to and from Austin and Dallas since Thursday on one of the the state airplanes this weekend. (Texas athletics is a very heavy user of this particular airplane.)

How could anyone not like Charlie and Vance.

Dear jmaggie,

I'm not saying you're being a jerk; but clearly your glasses are heavily maroon tinted.

Disagree with you on : 1) facilities, ours are just as good; 2) better conference, our conference was found to be stronger by an independent study organization, top to bottom, than the overhyped sec;3) I don't think the opponents are better or more exciting than the football tcu, Baylor, ksu, etc. etc. (I pick wvu to beat tam, by the way); 4)game day atmosphere, I'm not impressed with standing up and waving and kissing after a score. No stadium gets quieter when things go south than tam's.

Independent study findings or not the perception to most of the nation is that the SEC is so much more powerful and better than others. However, the whole facilities thing is a wash as stated above. Ours are just as good.

If you want to compare campus itself I think the advantage goes to UT. It does not look plain jane like much of A&M. Then look around it and what it has to offer. Depending on what a young man is looking for in regards to culture or lack thereof, UT has an advantage hands down.

Austin is not for everybody but if they are looking for fun, culture and lots to do I think UT has that wrapped up. It just depends on what is important to that young man and what he's looking for.

aggy has the overall advantage with the legendary Dixie Chicken... all we got is 6th Street and Scholtz's!

Better Ratings, you need to prove that!!!!!!

I know for a fact in a large majority of the head to head games when Texas played at the same time as AM, there was only one game where AM had better ratings in Texas or on a National level, but I will wait to see your proof that AM has better TV ratings.......

Here is the latest on the Malik saga. A really good article from Max Olson that came out today -The Link

It gives you all you need to know on how this has all gone so far. It is not the simple stuff the aggy and longhorn sunshine pumpers were saying.

^^^ I am not sure that is the case.

Max Olson has apparently tweeted that one Texas team is out and UCLA is in [Correction: he actually tweeted "IF he is down to 2 schools, then..."]. No idea which Texas team is out, but I doubt he or Malik would say it today.

UCLA is liked by the family, and Malik. Distance and mom's health are concerns.

A&M is liked by Malik for their players and potential upside with a better talent group. But he clearly feels concern on coaching. Family quite seriously against them.

Texas - Malik does not like the player-talent and feels we are third in upside but he isn't terribly concerned either. Family likes it as much or maybe a tad bit better than UCLA. Nobody has a terrible concern about any gambles.

Like Olson said, we are the safe choice, and the compromise choice may well be us. It all comes down to how much risk/gamble Malik wants to take, on which he is able to get his family to buy in.

Would like to see what he could do with the guidance and coaching of Coach Strong and the staff. He would definitely be coached up to his potential.

This kid has done nothing but cast a spot light on himself since day one. We don't need any super star, entitled, hot dogs, again. I think aggy deserves him.

7:45am in the morning is the announcement time. Hoping for the best that he comes to the good guys.

"Aggy selling hope. Might just work". That's pretty much aggy has ever had. They build up their upcoming year (see ranked #6)...and then by the end of November, they are picking up the pieces....only to wait for August. Repeat.

After that read, I took nothing positive about his low expectations for Texas to challenge for any sort of title anytime soon. Seems like he enjoys the program as a whole but doubts our realistic potential to be a legit player which he clearly desires.

UCLA seems out because of the folks. The Ags have officially sold their "potential" even after 3 years of finishing 4th or below in their own division. Sumlin's had 3 years and still hasn't legitimately challenged for the SEC West. Guess the turn-around takes 4+ years...doubt in 3 years Strong will be dangling 4th or below still. Hate to say it, this guy is all swag come the morning. Enjoy the half-*** defense your new team is now famous for in the mighty SEC.

We lost this race fellas, can't say after reading that article that I care much. In his view, UCLA is the smoking hot chic that's only offering the complicated, long distance relationship. Aggy are the faux rich chic flashing her mediocre life savings like a millionaire. We are the cute chic with a steady good job and solid savings. As he said, we are the 'safe' pick. The one to respect yet doesn't get your heart racing.

We're the Texas f**kin' Longhorns, not some 3rd-choice 7 to settle on. We're in the gym working hard to drop a few LB's and get that smokin' hot beach body back. Catch you on the flipside when we're back ripped up hoisting hardware soon. Least potential to win my ***.

There is some late evening murmurs and some sort of near melt-downs going on in some aggy sites after some aggy recruit gurus started sensing a real chance that Sumlin being unable to give MJ any confirmation on who their DC will be, may have just turned the deal in our favor. There are also a couple of pro-Texas recruiting gurus like Jason Suchomel and Ketchum who claim to be sensing the same thing.... Who knows. Maybe there is nothing there.... But we will all know in the next 6 hours or so, what this guys' selection is. Stay tuned.

Looks like Malik is good at disguising coverage and then bursting onto the scene. Did a great job hiding he was coming to the Horns behind much love for Bruins and Ags. Have a feeling once Bedford and Strong get hold of him he won't regret the 'safe' pick for long.
