2024 Volleyball

Looking good early.

After my daughter's VB match yesterday (5-0), they watch the varsity play. 2 high school girls just there watching, one had a Texas shirt on. Of course I did, too. These girls were huge Longhorn fans. This is in Hinsdale, IL. Anyway, they start singing the Eyes, asked about the WI game a few weeks ago. Very knowledgable and big Horns fans.

Texas vs Hawaii
Texas wins 3-1 (Hawaii’s first loss ever in Austin)

My first viewing experience on SEC+ for a home volleyball game and it sure made me miss LHN. Oh man, it was not good. Terrible camera angles (what few there were), hardly any closeups, no bench shots, just a play by play guy who kept calling Wenaas a freshman amongst other miscues. Seriously, no color commentator? It was a rinky dink production and embarrassing compared to what we’re used to with LHN. Please tell me this is a one off or something?

You hit the nail on the head. Every point you made also stood out to me. I really miss Alex Loeb! And I guess I wonder why their camera angles were so much worse. Wouldn't it stand to reason that the cameras would be in the same place as other games? Is it the cameraman's fault? The other thing that was irritating was how many times we missed part of a point because of a replay. And I couldn't pause it! I wonder if this what to expect with SECN+??

So was our LHN this much better than most volleyball coverage? That was embarrassing. Even the audio suck. If I wasn't such a diehard fan I would have just follow the online gamecast.

The announcer didn't even know the players. Minutes after saying Wennas was a transfer from Minn he called her a freshman. Then later said she had a bright future.
And called a Hawaii player that is a Jr "freshman of the year" last season in their conferance.

Was he even at the Greg ? Back in 20' and 21' the SEC was having their announcers work and call their games from home. This one had the same feel.

I was watching from Vegas on a laptop. The constant floating graphics of 'Point Texas" was nauseous with the repeated motion.

I was at the match...There were very few cameras relative to what we normally see for an ESPN broadcast. There was the normal one at midcourt and one up in one of the baseline stands. I don't remember seeing anything else except a young man wandering around with a small video camera filming the fans on the sideline. That would explain the limited views.
