2024 Texas Rangers

:bounce1::bounce2::bounce1::bounce2::texasflag::bounce2::bounce1::bounce2::bounce1:

Rangers walk it off!

So much to unpack with Langford’s debut, Adolis and Jankowski with homers, Eovaldi with quality start and then Yates and Robertson making their first appearances on the mound. 162-0 is still in the table. :yippee:

A very nice W to start the season. Good pitching and defense, timely hitting, and a great debut for Lankford. Rangers got a bad call on the foul ball that wasn't - and justice prevailed for Heim with the walk-off hit in the tenth. 162-0 is still possible - although unlikely. But a W on Opening Day is a nice start to the season.

In case you didn't notice - all the other AL West teams lost on Opening Day. So the Rangers are alone in first place in the West - a chance to lead the division for the entire season! :)

Sat. Mid- 5th

Bradford pitching. Rangers up 5-2 on Chubs. Walsh and Garcia have 2 run homers.

Ranger offense we hope to see all year showing up tonight as it’s 11-2 in the 8th. Before the Rangers blew this open we saw a similar rotation of relievers to the opener with Sborz, Robertson, and Yates all getting an inning. Bochy has his go to set up with those three leading to LeClerc depending on how far the starter goes. :texasflag:

Good guys lose to Cubs today 9-5 late inning bullpen meltdown.

Rangers take the series 2-1.

The good news Sunday:
Yankees 4
Astros 3

Astros stumble out 0-4 on the season!

in addition to the Astros going 0-4 during opening weekend, Seattle also lost 2 to the Red Sox so the Rangers come out of opening weekend in first place in the AL West. The Rangers are headed to Tampa, which in the playoffs is their second home but in the regular season has not been as friendly for three games, then have the first series with the Astros this coming weekend with four games at Globe Life. LeClerc has struggled in both his closer appearances thus far and it wouldn’t shock me if Yates is the closer by mid April.

Josh Jung with a fractured wrist. Isn't that a 6 week recovery? Rangers have depth, but it's best at First Base and Outfield.

Jung’s fractured wrist means he is likely out for a while and we may not see him again until mid to late May. He had started out the year so hot and his glove at third will be missed. Dane Dunning had really good first start and the Robertson acquisition continues to pay dividends as he shut down a comeback attempt by TB yesterday and got his first hold of year to go with his season opener win. Heaney gets his first start today and then back to Eovaldi tomorrow as Rangers look to take a road series and set up their rotation for the four game set with Houston this weekend.

Jung's injury is just a reminder, don't hang your hat on outscoring teams thru 162 games. Pitching and defense is the name of the game (jung's glove will be sorely missed too). Without jung's bat we took a step back.

We have 3 great young guns in the lineup. Langford, Carter, Jung. It'd be nice to have some young arms come up the system and contribute

While Jung’s injury sucks, it does give first round pick from 2020 Foscue a long look. He is top five prospect in Rangers system and can play first, second, or third base so he is getting an early longer look now.

TERRIBLE news to learn of Jung injury. We were counting on him and will miss him!

Next hot glove and or bat up. I agree with FWH that Foscue may be a good option to turn to.

Baseball is a game of inches. Opening night a long foul ball in the top of the tenth that was a few feet from a grand slam meant the Rangers win. Tonight a two out ninth inning rally sees a long fly ball that needed about five more feet to be a 3 run game tying home run but instead is just a very very long fly out to end the game with the Rangers second loss of the year. Rangers will pitch Eovaldi tomorrow and TB is one of those wild card contenders that it would be nice to have the tie breaker on so winning this series even early in the year would be a big deal.

Leclerc has pitched in 3 games, given up 6 earned runs. Struggled badly today closing out a 4 run lead.

Rangers let Chapman go because he was inconsistent? ...OK den.

Eovaldi with a seven-inning gem and the Rangers win 4-1 but not before LeClerc gives us all a heart attack in the bottom of the ninth. I posted earlier that I thought Yates would be the closer by mid-April if LeClerc continued to struggle, after today I would be in favor of that move starting this weekend with Houston. The Rangers have 7 games with Houston in the next two weeks and cannot have a head case/heart attack waiting to happen in their closer role.
