2023 Texas Rangers

Huge win tonight and with Toronto losing it’s a double score. Now of KC can just close out Houston in the bottom of the ninth???????

KC shuts em down and the Rangers will wake up tomorrow 2 games up in the loss column for the AL West lead. Get the sweep tomorrow and things will be in great shape as we head into the final week of this magical season.:texasflag:

Can't fault the bullpen tonight - they did their job, and they did it well. Sometimes you have to make a one-run or two-run lead stand up - and they did.
And KC helped (again) by beating the Astros.
Not a cinch by any means - but there is a path to the AL West title for the Rangers. The key for the Rangers - focus on your own game and keep winning!

Another big thing from last night, the Rangers clinch the head to head with the Mariners (7-1 to date) which means Texas has H2H over Seattle and Toronto if they end up tied. Astros have H2H with Texas so must win outright against them.

8 games left and at this point 5-3 could win the AL West and 6-2 will almost certainly do so as its hard to see Houston winning all 8. 4-4 probably gets a WC so long as two of those are over the Mariners. 8 games, 8 days here we go.

LETS GO RANGERS!:texasflag:

I am not the best Ranger fan but y'all are keeping me interested. I don't know enough to post but I read every one
And am excited that "we" are in better control now.
Thanks and more please.

I like your line of thought, FWHORN. Here's a path to 6-2 for the Rangers:
(1) Win against Seattle this afternoon in Arlington
(2) Win 2 of 3 in Anaheim
(3) Win 2 of 4 in Seattle
IMO, that's not an unreasonable target.
BTW - Houston choked away a chance to ice the AL West title last week - with easy pickings against Oakland and Kansas City, the Astros found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. If Texas winds up with the AL West title (and the much-needed first round bye in the playoffs), Houston has no one to blame but themselves.

6721, Rangers in control is about like a sudden altitude drop in an airplane. You hope the guy driving up in the cockpit is awake and will make the right decision.

87-68 on the season.

Now on to LAA for 3 important games. Angel's will be without Ohtani who is done and out for surgery.

ANNNNDDDDD EXHALLLLLLLEEEEEE

Wow those last four innings were a gut wrencher but the Rangers get a massive win and now they sit 3 games up in the AL West loss column and effectively 4 games up on Seattle for the WC. But for TB only taking one from the Blue Jays this was an absolutely perfect weekend. The Rangers magic number to make the playoffs is 4 and to win the AL West is 5.

They have a half foot in the playoffs but last week in a similar position they went to woeful Cleveland and dropped three straight so nothing is a given. They need to take care of business in Anaheim these next three and at a minimum take 2 of 3 while hopefully Houston and Seattle split their series putting at least one more loss on both of them and two on one of them. With any luck the Rangers have clinched a playoff spot before they step off the plane in Seattle Thursday and are playing for a division title.

And they have shut down Trout for the year too. Must Absolutely must take 2 of 3 and a sweep clinches a playoff berth since Houston and Seattle will be putting losses on each other the next three days.

After building a huge lead, the Ranger have to hold on while Seattle was chipping away at it - but Texas holds on to win, 9-8. SWEEP!
And to make things even better - KC completed their sweep of the Astros in Houston, beating the Astros 6-5.
Rangers lead Houston by 2-1/2 game for the AL West. Houston has six games remaining - three in Seattle, three in Arizona. They would have to win all six to get to 91 wins. Since Houston holds the head-to-head tie-breaker over the Rangers, Texas needs to win the division outright - so the Magic Number for Texas is 5 - any combinations of Texas wins/Houston losses totaling five will do it. Even more concerning to Houston - they lead Seattle by 1/2-game for the last Wild Card. Thus, their series against Seattle is HUGE for both teams.
And Houston has to be concerned about Arizona - the D-Backs Are only 1/2-game up for the 2nd Wild Card slot for the NL. They will be playing hard to hold on to that slot.

I don't believe in baseball jinxes, as some do.... so I will say conservatively, this ending is lining up nicely, but the Rangers gotta FOCUS & WIN!!!

Some Ranger numbers as we head into the final 7 games;

Texas went 50-31 at home this year and with 7 road games left are .500 away from home at 37-37. That is an incredible home record and is typically one that gives a team a huge chance to win a division.

Last year Texas won 68 total games. They have already won 19 more this year over last and that is in spite of the injury plagued season they have faced all year that included gut punches like losing DeGrom for the season by May and then losing your late season signing in Scherzer. It also includes as time on the DL for seemingly 2/3rds of their lineup at various points.

The Rangers had an 8 game losing streak in August and then started September 1-6 putting their playoff hopes on life support, But they have rebounded to go 12-4 in their last 16 making them 13-8 for the month of September, a solid final month with 7 to go.

I said it in an earlier post Bochy should be runaway manager of the year and frankly if Bochy isn't manager of the year then the award is a farce.

The magic numbers are 4 for the WC and 5 to win the division. Nothing is finished yet and don't expect anyone to let the Rangers back in to anything so Texas has to step up these last seven games and finish strong.

I'm stoked about Carter. He is incredible. A true superstar in the making. Then we have Langford on deck. It's a good time to be a Rangers fan!

Top of 3rd in Anaheim. Angels up 1-0 on a solo HR. Still lots of baseball to go in this game.
Meanwhile, in Seattle - Astros up 4-0, Mariners batting in bottom of 3rd.

Still locked in a tight pitchers' duel in Anaheim. Bottom of 4th, Angels still lead, 1-0.
Astros now up 5-0 on Seattle, top of 6th.
