2023 Softball Postseason - LFG!

I was surprised at the heavy attendance of the Seton Hall fans at the game. But, 3 of the players, including the starting pitcher, are from Texas.

I was looking at each of the SH's batting averages and watching our pitchers go through them 3-up and 3-down and wondered what type of pitching they faced in their regular season. So many of them had batting averages above .300. And that was their batting?

Mac with only 38 pitches in 4 innings? So that's about 9 pitches an inning and an average of 3 pitches per player. Impressive. Obviously, she'll pitch Sunday. I wonder who will start tomorrow? Please be Laly. Czech doesn't do well in heat.

When we got home and showered up, we watched the Tx State v A&M game. I kept going back and forth about who I wanted to win, in regards to who I wanted Texas to play tomorrow. I finally came down to wanting Tx State to win since they're pitching was so shaky with Mullins.....but it didn't matter in the end with their choke in the 7th.

I don't like that A&M won 7 of 8. Hate teams going into a game with momentum. And obviously, they had stronger mental fortitude than Tx. State.

When the game was starting and the field sign said it was "89" (my car on the way over said it was 93), I did a quick check of Elizabeth NJ, where Seton Hall is located nearby and it was 69 degrees at 5:00 pm on Friday.

Which leads to the snarky box score/weather comment for today's game:
Weather: 13 degrees too hot.

We didn't understand it.

p.s. you can thank me for not wearing my un-lucky Texas t-shirt to the game. That game was worn at the first game where we lost to Kansas and the first game we lost to Baylor. You're welcome.

White needs to stop coming out to talk to his pitchers. Seems like every time he does, there’s a rally by the other team. Luckily a base running error by aggy helped this time.
Come on Horns, bust this one open!!

Whew, a nail-biter.

Early in the game, lots of horns down. I kept thinking, "Will come back to bite ya"

Weather: 13 degrees too cold.

I hope the Aggie pitchers are worn out.

I saw the last 2 innings of the Tx State v Aggie game and I hope it was the case of tired arms that let the Aggies score 4.

It was very close today and we just had better defense (I can't believe I'm typing that) then they did.

And, didn't wear unlucky shirt.

What was the confrontation and ejection?
The pitcher may have cursed the umpire. She made a sarcastic curse last night. And the the coach came to her defense and got ejected. We have grandmas from A&M challenging the Texas crowd to “come at me” as were laughing at the ejection situation.

You gotta love the postseason effect!!!

Simpson is still a little hot and cold but she has been HOT!!!

Day is showing why she still needs to see the lineup!!!

Very nice weekend Ladies! I can't wait for those of you that were at the games to post about the atmosphere.

A recap of what you couldn't see on TV today. The end of the 4th inning and the dramatics of the 5th inning didn't fully show off the what was happening in the stands.

Let's go back just a bit. Over the years, we see some umps regularly call our home games. There is one ump who has called our games for many years and I never knew his name. I just called him "yellow foam" guy because his face mask uses yellow foam as part of the gear.

When I saw he was calling today's game and the ball was slick due to the continuous, light sprinkling I said to my family, "Oh, the Aggies picked the wrong day to get yellow foam ump". I have since found out from a ump (high school) seat neighbor of ours that his name is Keith. And as everyone who has never seen him ump, he has a very, very T-I-G-H-T strike window. And it moves.

We as Texas fans are used this guy. You throw one pitch and he calls it a ball. Next pitch you throw the same exact pitch and he calls it a strike. The Aggie fans were LOSING THEIR MINDS. This is a grandpa constant standing up and screaming at the ump

Then there was the sweet grandma who was chuckling one minute and then losing her mind flipping off the umps when the coach got thrown out and turning around and yelling at the Texas crowd calling them Mother F****ers. Yeah, grandma was daring us to go down and fight her.

When the coach got thrown out almost the entire Aggie go up to voice their displeasure and were moving about trying to get better angles to scream at the officials. The stadium seating managers and ushers were trying to get them to get back to their seats, sit down and calm down. Then the Aggie fans started pushing back angrily at the ushers.

So the stadium folks called the UT cops and had two of them placed behind the Aggie fan section in case a riot broke out due to their anger.

It was crazy!

Another rough outing for Morgan.

wish she could regain her form.
To be fair, as the season goes on, there is more "tape" on every pitcher and the opponent can film study them more. She's till the ace of the staff, in my humble opinion.

And designating Simpson a closer/saver is the best for her. The pressure of starting off a game was too much for her.

Agroids, as usual, were a bunch of winey douches. Yes, that ump has a bad strike zone, but it was far more favorable to the agroids. A pitch across the chalk in the opposite box is un-hitable and they kept getting it on our lefties. Honestly, it's their own stupidity for not throwing more pitches out there.

And the interference not being called in live action was BS. Was obvious and should've never taken a review.

What was really surprising to me was the level of venom they had for all the calls. I know it sounds strange, but their fans acted as if their team was the favored team and it was some sort of conspiracy to keep them from going further in the tournament. I mean, Texas State played them tight with iffy pitching so I don't know where they came up with that confidence.
