After winning out first two games in the B12 tourney, we face OU tomorrow at noon CT for the B12 championship.

A few days ago I was not optimistic about hosting a super regional, the last couple days have changed things for us based on some surprising conference tournament upsets.

LSU ranked somewhere around 15, RPI at #7 lost to Ole Miss in the first round of SEC tourney. LSU should be below us when the committee seeds.

Louisiana was ahead of us and fell two spots to #11.

Ok St still sits top 5 in the RPI, but they are 2-13 in the last 15 games. The committee places a HUGE emphasis on how you end the season and if they get a top 8 seed I will be both extremely shocked and not shocked at all, but they do NOT deserve it. After losing to Kansas they should drop at least 1 spot in the RPI.

Washington ranked #5 RPI #13 fell to Utah in the P12 tourney.

Tennessee was one spot behind us in RPI and will drop us to #10 after beating Florida and Alabama.

We sit at #9 RPI today but ranked 7th by final poll. Beating Kansas today probably won't raise us any but playing the number 1 in RPI team close may get us the push we need to host, and if we could beat them...

Yesterday Texas was sitting at the #9 RPI, but by Saturday with the results of other teams coming in we dropped back down to #10. Finally OSU drops one spot down to #5 but that number is so high they’ll get to host Supers. And Texas faces OU later today.

I could see OSU losing in their own regional. Didn’t that happen one year to Texas under Connie? i.e. Picked for regional and Super only to lose regional? Or was that another team?

Yeah i believe you are correct. We had Blaire Luna and went 0-2 in our Austin regional losing to Houston in game 2 if I remember correctly.

Sorry guys but I'm forever the optimist. I beleive we get that top 8 spot. The sweep against Baylor wasn't good but making the finals today helps. Hookem:bevo:

You know I get the whole "OU is the best team in country...hitters up and down the lineup...etc. But are only OU ex's in the crowd? Is there anyone else of interest there? Itz like saying water is wet...we know sigh

Really proud of this group. We battled through alot and came up a bit short. Now the real season starts. I feel good about how we finished. Now has to be our time...Hookem Ladies!!

There's a weekly softball podcast from the ESPN female softball commentators. I finally had enough and added a tweet comment, "Mandatory story about OU or one of their former players, check"

So sick of the constant drooling over the OU program.

If you talking bout 7th Inning Podcast I've noticed the same thing...

I am going to enjoy the rest of this season. I am also really excited about the future of this program. Next year's freshmen class could be pretty special too. Could do wonders for our depth.

Found it: 2010 NCAA Division I softball tournament - Wikipedia

Texas had 7th overall seed and so it was the Austin Super Regional.
1. Texas vs Iona: 6-0
2. Texas vs BYU: 8-9 (!)
3. [Loser's Bracket] Texas vs East Carolina: 0-1

Oops! This is my question is what happens if OSU is awarded a Super Regional but chokes in the Regional. The answer is that the next highest seed suddenly becomes the Supers host. In this case, Arizona hosting the "Tucson Regional" was #10 and this changed in NCAA history was renamed the Tucson Super Regional.

So if Texas gets left out of the top 8, There's a 1 in 8 chance we might be in the same Supers section as OSU and if they choke then we host Supers. Of course, if they don't choke, then we go to Stillwater. Not good! And worse, if we happen to be put in the same Supers as OU. Even worse!

I want Austin to host it's own Supers so that there's no chance we have to go through OU to get to OKC.

Can’t get ahead of ourselves. But it’d be a matchup with Tennessee in the supers or we could host if they lose their regional.

I figured it would be both Texas St and A&M coming to Austin. Thought we would be 10 or 11 seed though, going 7-11 against RPI top 25 teams is probably the reasoning behind that. Getting swept by Baylor didn’t help either.

I think we have one of the most difficult regionals, even our 4 seed Seton Hall is probably the best 4 in the tournament. But I guess being one of the lowest seeds that’s how it should be. Confident this team will take care of business.

Surprised Alabama is the 5 and OSU the 6.

Well that's over, now the real work.
This will be a tough region. I don't know about Seton Hall but Texas State and A&M will travel well. I expect a packed house both days, lots of energy everywhere.

Even the Alabama fans are saying, "Yeah, this is unexpected and we can see why other teams are mad. But we'll take it!"

And the teams they put into their bracket? Lordy!

And 18-loss team gets the 5 seed?

I think the most dangerous team will be Texas State.

I'm concerned more about Seton Hall. I haven't seen them play at all. Are they conference champions?
Texas State and A&M are so personal.
Everyone concerns me....lol

Game vs Seton Hall set for Friday, 4:00 pm. On LHN.

And then, the Texas State v A&M game set at 6:30 pm?

Talk about dissing of Texas this year. You make it so the local fans have a harder time getting their "home" game? I know my son will still be in school and will miss this game.

First off Texas played very well against OU. I think Citlaly did great. She gave up 5 hits but I believe all her hits were extra base hits where 4 of our 5 hits were singles. Her, Mac, and Estelle looked great. When Sophia is at her best she’s the best pitcher on staff for me so I’m hoping she shows out in the postseason.

Second I’m disappointed we got the 13th seed. I knew the sweeping of Baylor hurt us. Losing one game would’ve been ok but being swept is what caused us to not get the top 8th seed. I think Texas and Florida State have the hardest regional. Texas State and Texas A&M are always tough.

3rd off, if we make it through our regional we will most likely head to Tennessee. Yes Tennessee is tough but they didn’t have a strong schedule which is why their RPI was constantly at 10-13 throughout the season. They’re also only hitting .297 as a team compared to Texas hitting .330. They only have 3 players hitting over .300 which is Malloy, Gibson, and Puni.
Another interesting thing is in all of their losses, they were to drop ball pitchers (And we have two with Morgan and Gutierrez.

The worst groupings I've ever seen the committee do. Texas State and A&M have already played each other this season. And this will be the 4th time Texas will see Texas State in a calendar year.

It's like Texas is being punished because Mike White isn't all that popular with some coaches and he also twisted the rules in order to get that tie earlier in the year. That's still alluded to on social media.

I sincerely hope that look of disappointment the team had is the last thought they have about that. Its time to get to the business playing/winning softball. I think we are too young to be concerned with that stuff. We Are Texas and EVERYBODY wants to beat us. Today the only thing that should matter, is winning against Seton Hall, nothing else.

Let's not take anyone for granted. Seton Hall is a conference champion, they know how to win. We gotta be ready. Texas State vs A&M will be hard fought game.
