It's a good thing we have coach Phillips because she has many many connections on the west coast and is well respected on that side of the country. If there is any recruiter who can get her it's coach PhillipsSo he talks about Breya being able to step in immediately at UCLA. What about here? We'll have LaTasha, but is she a post? Who else would she be competing with? I suppose the point about her being a west coast girl carries some weight, but I think we could be an attractive destination.
Montaya Dew, 6’2” F from Nevada, was at the Elite Camp. She is the #23 rated player in the 2023 class by ESPN/HoopGurlz. (She is standing in the back, right corner of the frame.)
She is followed by all three assistant coaches, Phillips, Jackson-Durrett and McEntire.
New Offer. Taliah Scott, 5'9" PG from Florida. She has also been offered by Louisville and Notre Dame.
Texas makes the top 8 for 2023 6'4 post Breya Cunningham
Breya Cunningham recently took an unofficial visit to Oregon.
Before my twitter settings changed, I did notice something unusual (coincidental) the other day. Both of our 2022 verbal commitments (Amina and Jordana) had very recently started following 2023 Cori Allen (5'10 G, Nashville, TN) on twitter, and vice verse. Allen has recent offers from Georgia Tech, Auburn, Florida, Notre Dame, and Virginia. I thought also that Coach McEntire started following Allen recently on twitter, but I can't remember for certain.
Allen's father played hoops at Tennessee, but most Lady Vols fans think she's heading out of state.
Perhaps Amina and/or Jordana recently met Cori on the high school club circuit or something.
Jordyn Byrd took an official visit to Texas a few weeks; all her photos were with volleyball team, so I don't think she'll be playing basketball in college:
I believe Mendelson's mother is from Austin.Yes she is a Vball recruit at the next level.
Mendelson (?) is a vball/bball player at the next level from Utah. I know JE would like her as she’s a super elite vball player (MB) but idk if she’s on Vic’s radar.
I believe Mendelson's mother is from Austin.
While Mendelson is really, really good at both basketball and volleyball, it seems like volleyball may be her main sport. She made the USA teams in both sports, which is quite remarkable.
The Wootten top-150 camp is this weekend, which I'm pretty sure both Allen and Cunningham are attending.
Agreed. At the rate we are currently recruiting, I can't see giving up a scholarship for a part-time player. It’ll take a really understanding basketball coach. It would cost them a scholarship (not volleyball) and they wouldn’t have them until mid/late December. Risk of injury doesn’t seem super high in volleyball but it can happen. It’s hard to make that work.
