2023 Recruiting - WBB

I’m at mercy of DMNews and MaxPreps. South Grand Prairie has played 2 games but neither have been reported by the coach. It’s early in the season and the coaches will get better about reporting……I hope.

Flower Mound won by 17 over Keller Timber Creek. M. Cox had 23. Zero for Boutilier. 4 games with no points. Has to be injury.

South Grand Prairie won twice. 44-42 over John Paul II? and 50-36 over Amarillo. No box scores to see how Tac scored.

Flower Mound won 2 games on Thursday and 1 game Friday. Boutilier was not in any of the box scores. So that is like 7 games and nothing. Again….she’s either hurt or not playing this fall.

BOUTILIER SITING! Or reading. Noticed that she scored 2 points in Tuesday game for Flower Mound. Sure hope she can quickly ramp up. Her team won by 15 points.

I see these types of posts from time to time and,”That’s nice,” and move on but this is from a high school coach with 7 state titles.

Tac and Parker from South Grand Prairie are both injured/hurt. Both did NOT play in the Christmas tournaments this week.

Boutilier is missing from the box score in Flower Mound’s 20 point win last night vs Coppell. Injury or just not scoring?

Boutilier is not in last night’s box score for Flower Mound in a 17 point loss. It’s strange that it appears she has only played in two games this year. No blurb of news about her situation.

Well……that de-escalated quickly. Boutilier not in box score last night. In my fair and biased analysis, she has appeared in 3 games’ box scores this year. Plano East beat Flower Mound 31-25 in either a great defensive or a terrible offensive game. I’ve become obsessed with Boutilier situation and what’s going on. I’m embarrassed about this obsession, but since she’s Horns third player in 2023 class, and she’s a ghost to me, it’s perhaps ok.

Perhaps Salise Blow flew under the radar. Plano 5’-11” wing averages 32 points a game. She had 57 against Plano West in December. Then had 43 in return match Friday. She signed with Wichita State. Until a recent growth spurt, she played point guard. Now she is a match—up nightmare for other teams. Just a watch-list player as she’s in the discussion for McD All-American team.

Those numbers are impressive!

Madison Booker, W
Signed with: Texas | 2023 espnw 100 ranking: 12
Germantown HS (Mississippi)

Booker is a matchup problem with her versatility and ability to knock down the 3-point shot both in catch-and-shoot situations and off the dribble either in transition or as she creates space for herself. She is one of the hybrid forwards that can be utilized to initiate and facilitate the offense. This opens the floor up and allows teammates better driving angles and less defensive help to confront. Her feel for the game, coupled with her passing and floor vision, make her fun to watch. We have seen her grow over time in her intensity and physicality on the boards. Booker is a two-time gold medalist with USA Basketball: U16 at FIBA Americas in 2021 and U17 at the FIBA World Cup in 2022, where she started all seven games.

For those of you who have watched her, does her game fit nicely into Vic's plan, or will she have some adjusting to do? Rori, or Sonya?

Not sure this answers your questions, but I expect Booker to step in for Sonya and be our starting SF next season. She seems to have a college-ready build, and is a good shooter from the perimeter. Her size allows her to rebound well, too. It will all come down to how good she plays defense in Vic's system.

I agree with Mooo. It would be a humongous upset if she was not starter at SG. I’ve not seen her play other than highlights clips, but apparently her passing is good, as is her handle. Her size at SG should allow her to make entry passes easier. Adjusting to Schaefer’s dribble drive offensive option might be challenging early. Agreeing that her attitude towards defense may be hardest. She has athletic ability to do it, it’s just she hasn’t had to do it before. For sure she should fit into Schaefers plans…..how quickly she becomes efficient is debatable.
