2023 Recruiting - Football

247 composite rankings now have us at #2.

Meanwhile aggie is sitting at #54 with only 5 commitments. Guess they spent all that NIL money too fast.
and one of those commits is a 3* punter.

Not that it means crap (unless you're aggy), but how funny would it be for this class to rank higher than their '22 class?

I hope our class ranks higher their theirs at the end, and even higher quality in rating. However, it won't be easy to achieve that as with only 5 total commitments, 2 of Aggy's are the highest level 4 star and one a mid level 4 star. With us out of 17 total commitments, we also have the same number as them (3) plus AM.

If we can land Anthony Hill, Javien Toviano, and Malik Muhammad (which I think is definitely attainable and even probable) I would stack up our class against anyone. That would be 6 top 50 recruits. Add in a possible Baxter commitment and include Niblett and we have 8 top 100 guys. That is a class with impact.

Let's not get too cocky about Aggy's class, especially considering they waited last year and then loaded up on most of the high 4 and 5 star recruits in the last couple of months.

Aggie will rob (or "borrows") from First State Bank CollegeStation to fund the 2023 recruit payroll.

Anything beyond today is icing. The point was to maintain momentum with Arch’ commitment. The next step is on the field results. We need at least 8-4 this season to maintain momentum. With the talent in the last 2 classes, no excuse not to win 9-10 games after this season.

Definitely need the W's this season. Without we are cooked. The high level momentum from the AM effect is just starting, well since Sunday. The weekend was mostly Big12 level guys, but AM can bring in the big fish. Those big fish are needed to successfully complete against the Bama's, Georgia's, Ohio States and...OU's of the college football world. We can't keep bringing in a couple of studs along with a bunch of average level guys and expect to compete against an entire squad of 6.1s, 6.0s and some 5.9s. Heck, we have not even brought in that many 5.9s, mid level 4 star guys. We have been kings of the 5.8 down to 5.5 ratings. You can sprinkle in a developed project here and there, but the bulk of your team needs to be as talented as the competition to consistently win.

Likely so. It's a whole new landscaped world. UT has more far money and more power than any school out there. It should be illegal for us to complain about someone else outspending/muscling us.

Not if Adams owns it. That feud ain't likely to ever be settled.

Besides, the athletic department has plenty of experience borrowing $20 million plus from the university when there was no visible means of repayment.

While Rivals shows us # 1 overall because of sheer numbers and collective point total, here is where we really stand as of now based upon the more true comparison of recruiting success, average rating weight.

Still not perfect because the questions remain whether a school(s) can keep up that high level production with more volume of commitments to fill their needs, but given the list reflects historically top recruiting schools, (and there being no out layers like a TTU, BYU, or Washington State in the group) I would have to say its a pretty good evaluation.

1. Ohio State 4.07

2. Auburn 4.00

3. Notre Dame 4.00

4. Clemson 3.87

5. USC 3.82

6. Texas 3.76

7. LSU 3.67

Good God, man - beat a dead horse much? You seem to be the one arguing for evaluating it later, so what’s the harm in allowing a bit of understandable excitement for a while (and then later coming back with the “I told you so” when it all inevitably collapses and fails as you appear to hope?

Have a strong suspicion this isn’t your first handle, as the persistent hard-blowing and tone remind of one or two who’ve come and gone.

HFSupremacy....I tend to agree with your observation.

I guess his comments should make the 3-4 stars feel good about them selves not being worthy!!!
