2023 Recruiting - Football

Keep in mind, he isn't the only Ex-NFL guy to have a hard life after football, there are ton's of them especially with the head trama thing as well. I say this for all our kids, if you can go early to the NFL, go, get your money and then get out before you do permanent damage to your body.
Football is a very violent game, no doubt. But the aggressive rule changes over the past several years, addressing targeting, blind side blocking, and other aspects of the game including the concussion protocol will almost certainly have a positive effect on the well being of today’s players when they call it quits. I also believe that equipment has and will continue to evolve with the intention of further protecting the players.

The long term health risks for players today is different than it was in Earl’s or even Ricky’s day. But true, it’s still a very dangerous game. But then again, so is the UFC...

It still comes down to one thing, get in, get what you can, and get out. This is especially true for runningbacks. For now, he would best serve the University by getting some great success and becoming a high NFL draft pick as I can't remember the last time we had one of those.

IT believes the recruitment for QB Arch Manning of New Orleans, LA will boil down to a Bama vs. Texas battle.

WOW! That sounds familiar, as in same song fifth verse? While Arch ain't heading to Duke, you know Cut gets a look, and if previous reports are to be believed, Mack Brown gets a visit. I ain't holding my breath on any Manning being on the roster in Austin.

Cedrick Benson was the Bears # 1 pick, # 4 overall pick. Ricky Williams a few years earlier, and Jamal Charles was a high pick. And of course Earl was a high pick.

And a mid level RB pick was Malcom Brown, now with the Rams.

The first thing I thought of was Chris Simms...

The respect and admiration the Mannings have for Sark is off the charts. I'm not worried about Mack Brown at all on this one. As mentioned on the 22' recruiting forum , we have some head to head UT bama battles brewing for recruits. Arch is currently planning on announcing late in his Sr season. Sark has 2 years to show off the offense we're all hoping for and if we can show an upward trajectory W/L record don't be surprised if he makes his way to Austin

247 reporting Sark and staff had a Zoom call earlier this week with WR Johntay Cook II of DeSoto.

He will a big name to remember for this class.

Good to be in his top 12, hopefully we can make his top 5 and then his #1, however, I'm not holding my breath to steal an in-state guy from Bama.

More than a famous name: Arch Manning beginning to carve his own legacy

Manning has started to dive into his college recruitment as well. He really likesSteve Sarkisianat Texas. Their relationship began when Sarkisian was in Tuscaloosa. New Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has picked up where Sarkisian left off and Manning has talked withNick Sabanas well. Of courseEd Orgeronand new offensive coordinatorJake Peetzhave been involved. Manning looks forward to seeing what the Tigers offense looks like this year under Peetz. Clemson is in the picture. Ole Miss and Tennessee have called. So have Boston College, Stanford and several others.

listed WR Ashton Cozart (Richland) and CB Jayvon Thomas (Dallas South Oak Cliff) as prospects who could receive offers soon.

Hoping our new staff can greatly improve the Oline recruiting. They have some very good recruits talking and hope that 3-5 of the 4-5* linemen will jump on board. Hated the mediocre results of TH oline recruiting. We could sure land 10-15 WR and DB's but they dont block the big uglies on D or protect the qb.

I agree, the offensive line recruiting is paramount. We certainly struck out looking in 2021. That was a disaster given the prospects that was available. But we can recover with a good haul this year and I believe we will. We are high on the list for some elites and if we have a competitive season with good results we will get them. "Alright, alright, alright".
