247SportsTexas 'hit a home run' in recruiting pitch to Arch Manning

Arch Manningmight be the most sought after quarterback prospect in the Class of 2023. With a last name like Manning, there’s a lot to live up to but he seems like the real deal as schools flock to bring him in for visits.247Sports Late Kick host Josh Pate is a big fan of one school’s pitch for Manning: Texas. In fact, he thinks they did the best job possible on the initial visit, ahead of head coach Steve Sarkisian’s first year on the job. However, just because the visit went well, doesn’t mean Texas has to basically up the ante during the regular season.
“I think they hit a home run, I think they are squarely in the mix forArch Manning,”Pate said on Late Kick.“But eventually, they're going to have to have something tangible. Because there's going to be too much tangible result to be seen from Alabama and the likes of Clemson. Texas has got to get it done. They have to show you something in weeks one and two because if you are to come out of summer on this massive recruiting hype wave and then you start to show product on the field earlier than anyone expected, that starts a snowball effect. That's how you really start to take off in recruiting even in year one under a new staff and that's how incredible things can happen.

“If they stumble, that doesn't mean they can’t eventually get it on track. I’m talking about this class and the 2023 class if you really want to instantly have bang in recruiting, week one against Louisiana, that's going to be a spotlight game for most of the country and in week two at Arkansas, that's going to be a spotlight game for a lot of the country. They have to get it done there because a lot of guys likeArch Manning, even if they want to go to Texas, even if they are enamored with playing forSteve Sarkisian, you don't have to show them national championship wins but you have to show them evidence. You gotta show a reason to buy into the vision you’re pitching.”

According to 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, Manning and Sarkisian seem to have pretty good chemistry. A good sign for Texas fans and more can be read about the visitHERE.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Manning is a five-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He is the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Louisiana, the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the class and the No. 3 overall prospect in the class.

Wherever Manning ends up at the next level, the chase for the top quarterback in 2023 is going to be fascinating.

They said on the radio today that Manning was at the UT super regional game or games with Sark. That would have been a fantastic environment.

Yes, he was at the game Saturday night (as was I), was in the booth with Ehlinger--did a "hook 'em" to the crowd---allsome!! :hookem:

What a situation with Manning. If we don't start strong then we lose momentum on the recruiting trail. But if the reason we don't start strong is because of our current QB situation, then we need Manning to elevate us.

In the end, somehow, the product on the field MUST show the elite coaching skills (at least on offense) that Sark displayed in the NC game. People should look at the team and say, "That team is well coached and with elite players they will be an elite team because the coach KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING."

Well we could all ratchet up the pressure for success to incredible heights if we want to, but we must remember the coaching staff and players are fallible human beings. (No news there) But its exciting the trajectory we are now on for becoming a perennial playoff contender. And i think our present QBs will do well. They may have some hiccups in the beginning but will settle in as the season progresses. No matter how well they do I am feeling we will be getting Manning.:smokin:

Seems a little odd that we are recruiting so many TE's? Binder boy wanted half the roster to be WR, seems like we have slid over to TE's. I think we have a couple of really exceptional TE's already so considering our need for OL, just a little confused on this one.
