2023 Portal Recruiting (Opens December 5th)

I kind of understand why someone would transfer to another school in the interest of playing time.

However, if you couldn't crack the starting lineup at any given school, you probably aren't NFL-bound. You might as well stay put, get good grades, and start planning for life after football.

If someone transferred from State U to Berkeley or Georgia Tech, I'd understand. But going from State U to Directional Safety School, why??

cpa,

Unfortunately those stats don't reveal if he played or not. His ability to catch the ball was never in doubt because he never did.

Just like JT Daniels. If you have to transfer 4x maybe you suck. Or maybe you have character issues. Or maybe both.

And if the above is the case then you're never going to the NFL anyway so why not just stay at a good school and get a valuable degree?

Maybe he likes variety.

Nick Foles committed to Arizona State. Went to Michigan State and didn’t start there, and finished at Arizona doing well. Now he has a Super bowl ring.

This is a major segue to be funny...

Long ago I read the book Ball Four by Jim Bouton. I was in high school. Here's one line I always remembered about an insult hurled at some blonde Thor looking first baseman by one of Bouton's teammates:

"You must be a lousy lay, I see you with a different woman every night."

A thousand players in the portal. One hundred twenty teams in D-1, give or take. Every team would have to pick up 8 or 9 transfers. Doesn't seem likely. A bunch of kids will be leaving football or playing in lower divisions.

And do the portals play in bowl games? While I know at least 21 player’s team didn’t make a bowl, what about those that did?

Or staying with the team they're on.
Entering the portal doesn't mean you have to leave.

Leach is historically a d to his players , which is mostly why his teams never do much in big games. and generally fold like a a flag.
His teams are easier to predict than Middle East weather and as long as he is around I’ll make money on him.
On the portal-From what I understand , 45% don’t get offers.

I believe Marshall was one of the infamous trio smoking weed in the locker room. Probably one that actually helps them.

So far, no key players for aggy has jumped ship, but it certainly dents their depth. Basically, half their class from the last 2 years is gone. Aggy can win with what they got left, but they won’t contend for the SEC west.
