2023 Big12 WBB Tournament

I see Tech added to their league leading technical fouls tonight. Wonder how they rank nationally?

It was hilarious. Gerlich was evidently calling for a timeout and got a technical instead with 30 seconds left in the game. An 8 pt deficit became 12.
:lmao:

It's as good a place as any to post this.

Go check out the Sandwitch's bio page on Tech's website. I swear half her listed accomplishments are "we beat Texas". Pathetic. Utterly pathetic. No wonder she celebrated so hard; it means she gets to add another paragraph to that webpage.

Seriously? She went on to lose 10 out of the next 13 games afterwards! That entire athletic program is a really low budget clown show.

Don’t know how it’s gonna end but TCU finally showing up for Peebley. Doubt Kansas makes the tourney if they lose this one.
OU will basically have a walkover tomorrow playing TCU instead of Kansas (although tonight's version of Kansas was obviously awful), and be able to really limit the number of minutes played by their starters.

I finally found a pic of Ndjakalenga in KC. Its in Elena's IG stories and she is taking a contested shot at shootaround today. So I'd assume we'll at least have one extra guard for this tournament.

I watched parts of the 4th quarter, including the last 4 minutes:

1. The Sandwitch got a technical in a funny way. K-State scored, Tech inbounded the ball and was dribbling it slowly and suddenly the whistle blew and the refs gave Gerlich a T. She was trying to get a timeout before the inbound so they could advance the ball, but the refs weren't hearing her or paying attention to her. So she started "yelling in their direction" about wanting a timeout and as the announcer said, "the refs thought she was saying something else to them". Tech gets a technical, K-State sinks the two free throws and the ball gets handed back to K-Sate to inbound. And that's how they shot back up in points in the last 2 minutes.

2. Saw AC take over at point for about 1 minute. She seemed slow and unsure which person to guard or what to do. She got pulled a few seconds later.

3. Saw K-State's star player Sundell catch her foot on a Tech player's foot, then twist and fall down on the knee with the knee band. She was on her back for a bit and then had to be helped off the court with people at her side. The coach kept her out the rest of the game since they were so far ahead. The next time I saw her she was smiling on the bench.

On the other hand, despite not playing tonight, Oklahoma (NET #37) takes a hit. Instead of playing NET #36 Kansas tomorrow in the Big 12 quarterfinals, they will get NET #147 TCU who upset Kansas tonight. So, if they are being considered for a Top 16 sub-regional host site, not sure beating TCU will help them in that regard.

Would have to beat them by 20 plus probably. The NET rewards teams for winning big. That’s why LSU had such a high NET pre conference. They ran it up on inferior teams.

I thought about that last night. And, OU has blown out a lot teams, especially the Big 12 cellar dwellers. Yet, their NET ranking is only 37 (lower than Kansas' 36). Weird.

Like last year, I really enjoy Holly Warlick on the color commentary. She's unbiased, not overly technical, and gives you the perspective of a coach with many years of experience. I also like that she doesn't hesitate to say so when there's a call she doesn't agree with. It's like sitting next to her watching a game together.

Ugh! OSU outscores WVU by 12 in the 4Q, including trailing 60-61 with 14 seconds left to win 62-61. Dang it! Was hoping WVU would win.

WVU should have used that foul they had to give as soon as that OSU player dribbled into the lane and before she got into a shooting motion. Vic always says he doesn't believe in that, but that's one thing where I vehemently disagree. Failing to use that foul to give cost him a NC at Mississippi State, and it cost Gail one at Duke... just like it probably cost WVU this game.

I’m horns all the way but as a basketball fan wvu lose is on the coach. Good fight by okie state but yea wvu lost because of coach. She seemed like she doesn’t care about the girls first then you had fouls to give why not use em especially with your tournament life of life support. Last play of the game you didn’t put your 2nd best athlete back in for a top (Jada Walton). If they don’t make the tournament it’s not on them it’s won the coach she just helped them flunk the eye test. In conclusion Quinerly will post on socials in next 72 hours she out I wouldn’t stay 2 more year for that.

It’s possible that Sonya is not allowed to fly. Blood clots can be extremely dangerous - kept Serena Williams off the court for a year, you’ll recall. Wish her a speedy recovery.:hookem:

Yeah, flying is an absolute no go when recovering from blood clots of any type.
