2022 Recruiting - WBB

How big did Cy Creek win by? Up north, no real upsets. South GrandPrairie was down 11 at half but beat a good Plano team. Arlington Martin got beat .....I think by Plano East? I’m just waiting for Duncanville vs DeSoto regional final game.

You can watch ($) but they play at the same time the Longhorns do...

Cy creek won 59-31 but that score really doesn't say much. Cy creek didn't play well at all considering how they normally play. They play summer creek in round 4. I don't think anyone is going to challenge them until they get to the state game against Duncanville or DeSoto.

Duncanville beat Cedar Hill last night by 15. Next up Klein Oak. DeSoto won by 33. Next up Langham Creek. Scouting on Klein Oak and LC please.

Didn't expect us to be on her list; still, that's an odd combination of schools in that they play such different types of offense, and don't all recruit the same type of guards.

Kind of glad our new coaching staff didn't put in the effort as she ended up committing to a school which wasn't even one of her announced finalists:

Duncanville beat Langham Creek by 48 last night. Duncanville vs DeSoto Tuesday at 7:30. pm in Waxahachie. It’s tough to beat a team 3 times in one season. As much as I hate to root for Duncanville, I think and hope they’ll win this game. Should be a barn burner since last game led to a fight with toss-outs, suspensions, and other. I’ll pass on going to see it.

Definitely will be a dog fight but I'd be surprised if they sell many tickets due to what happened last time. Since it's playoffs I hope both teams have self control and not cost their team a playoff spot. These are the only two teams who have a chance of beating Cy Creek so hopefully they show up to play and leave the rest at home

I got the wrong team. Duncanville beat Klein Oak last night. I normally would drive down to Waxahachie to see what should be a tremendous game. Between the virus ......and the animosity between the teams and fan bases, I’ll just read about it Wednesday morning. This game deserves to be at the state tournament but it is what it is.

DeSoto 63-52 overe South Grand Prarie today. CC vs DeSoto...the one everyone wanted to see all year long.

I may have missed this recruit having been mentioned in this thread, but seeing Coach Lovato showing some attention on twitter to 6'6 Kyla Oldacre out of Mason, OH.

The name rang a bell... @LonghornsWBB mentioned her last October.

I think we may be recruiting Kyla Oldacre, a 6-5 post from Ohio. She seems like a Vic-type recruit. A post and a wing should be the top two priorities.

Since we have 5 juniors I will be doing top 5 based on these offers and who I see us having a chance to land based on coming in and playing immediately or where we need the most depth. No particular order ....
1) Kennedy Basham
2) KK Brantford
3) Ayanna Patterson
4) Kirsten Johnston
5) Ashlon Jackson
Now of course you have Smith and Muhammad but I think Smith is a Baylor lock. The top 5 I listed will give us depth where we need the most and those players are easily a college starting 5 lineup. If we can get 3 of those 5 than we will have a great class.
Well, that's 3 of 5 of your preferences off the board as they are committed elsewhere or no longer list Texas among their finalists. Who else you got? :p

I know:( and at this point I believe we will see commitments in the fall. Not having visits or in person contact really sucks so I believe the recruits are making finals list based on who they have been in touch with the longest and who recruited them first. It honestly depends on this off-season. I'm curious to know if Vic will hold the scholarships for the 2022 class or just go for some transfers that will take those scholarships away from the 2022 class

I'm hoping the transfer portal and proposed rule changes is work in our favor. Like @Moooooo , I feel we have immediate needs to address so that we can start building some upward momentum.
With the extra year of eligibility in play now, we can afford not to hold all the scholarships as we have flexibility with our next year's group of of seniors who will have junior eligibility. I would think that extra year may or may not be taken/given depending on recruiting.

Coach Lovato started following recent Wisconsin decommitment, 6'0 Wing, Jordana Codio (Jupiter, FL) on twitter and vice verse, as well a her Dad:

I think Texas is seriously interested in Jordana Codio. Lovato had been following her and her parents on twitter, and today started following her younger hoopster sister (class of 2024). Coach Dionnah started following Jordana and her parents on twitter recently, and vice verse.

Coach Dionnah also started following DeSoto's Amina Muhammad on twitter.

This showed up in my TL because Elena Lovato liked it.

I saw that tweet earlier. But, I was navigated to it through a different process.

Turns out that Oregon State assistant coach, Katie Faulkner started following Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda on twitter today (or yesterday). Takes a lot of want-to to connect the dots, but if Katie is going to join the Texas coaching staff, that "follow" makes sense (in my head). When Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda tweeted her 10 finalists back in November, OSU was not one of them.

And, I've kind of thought that if any 2022 recruit was a silent commit to Texas, it is Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda since even Aaliyah Moore started following her on twitter a month or two ago.

I'm sure I'll wake up eventually if none of this turns out to be true/accurate . . . :p

I’m trying to keep track of the current offers from Texas for the class of 2022. Does the list below look accurate? (The list is in alphabetical order.) I would welcome any comments.

· KK Bransford 5’10” G, Ohio (ESPN Rank #27)
· Kennedy Basham 6’7” C, Arizona (ESPN Rank #28) TEXAS NOT IN FINAL LIST
· Darianna Littlepage-Buggs 6’0 W, Oklahoma (ESPN Rank #35)
· Jordana Codio, 6'1” G, Florida (ESPN Rank #48)
· Kiersten Johnson, 6’3” F, Texas (ESPN Rank #40)
· Ta’Niya Latson, 5’8” G, Georgia (ESPN Rank #39)
· Brianna McDaniel 5’11’ G, Illinois (ESPN Rank #30)
· Amina Muhammad 6’3” F, Texas (ESPN Rank #49)
· Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda 6’2” W, South Dakota (ESPN Rank #24)
· Kyla Oldacre 6’6” C, Ohio (ESPN Rank #17)
· Aryanna Patterson 6’2” W, Indiana (ESPN Rank #3) COMMITTED TO UCONN

Hopefully, the COVID 19 conditions will continue to improve and we’ll be able to have some form of a summer camp this year as well as recruits being able to take official visits during football season. The majority of these recruits are from out-of-state and have probably never visited Texas.

Patterson committed to UConn, alas.

Basham did not list Texas among her finalists.

I'm gonna assume we have offered recent Wisconsin decommitment, Jordana Codio out of Florida since Elena and Dionnah are following her and several of her family members on twitter.

We did offer Sa'Myah Smith out of DeSoto a few weeks ago; but, I think it's only a matter of time before she commits to Baylor.
