Edit: If you don't want to watch! Final five list: Tennessee, Arizona, Texas Tech, Kentucky, Baylor.
Would not be surprised if we go more national this cycle. I would expect a bigger in Tx haul the next cycle.I expected this. I have been saying she is a Baylor lock for about two years now. Not really upset since we have Aaliyah Moore but I will say, expect some big commitments for the 2022 class comings sooner rather than later
Ashlon Jackson committed to Duke this morning.Punch in the gut to Baylor that Ashlon didn't even list them in her Top 5. They have no verbal commitments from any guards in the 2021 class; and, the in-state 2022 class of guards (other than Ashlon) is not as highly ranked. Baylor will have to go out of state, or continue with their focus on transfers.
For us, signing two guards for 2021 might not have been a factor in Ashlon not listing us in her Top 5. I thought her having several friends on the Texas squad would give us a chance; but, I guess not. Duke seems to be a newcomer as they are the last school she started following on twitter (compared to the others). With Duke and Stanford among her finalists, maybe education is a huge priority; but, can't say the same with Louisville, and UConn and Oregon to some degree, which seem like going there is all about hoops.
Regardless, our staff took advantage of there being two versatile guards in-state and ranked among the Top 20 players in the country for 2021, and got 'em both.
Final 5 for Brianna McDaniel: Miss St, Louisville, Georgia, aggy and Texas.
FYI -- Elena Lovato's twitter account was hacked recently. Guess she created a new one. So, a lot of the "new" accounts she may have started "following" may have already existed in her prior account, and aren't "new" follows on her end.
On the other hand, those she's following via her new twitter account may just tell us some of her current focus.
The problem is DeSoto. Many teams have actually told DeSoto administration they would not play them unless they were talked to prior to the game by campus police and administration. That is very sad for a high school team to be acting like that. Seems to be a coaching problem since it keeps happening. The last fight against Duncanville Unfortunately was with Texas target Amina Muhammad. Although she did not start the fight she did swing on the other player from behind. Not a good look to coaches when you have to cancel a game due to risk of fighting. Just not something I don't like to seeThe DeSoto vs Cedar Hill game has been canceled by DeSoto. Recently DeSoto and Duncanville had a brawl with fans coming on court. Then 4 Duncanville players plus coach being suspended and unspecified sanctions by DeSoto administration. In earlier game, there was a physical altercation between DeSoto and Cedar Hill. DeSoto chose to cancel siting an abundance of caution. Don’t know who is most at fault but the common thread seems to be DeSoto. Sad that the good kids get saddled with some of that.
She makes it look so easy:
