2022 Recruiting - Football

Sark is going to bedazzle recruits and their parents. Its been a long while since Sark has had face-to-face contact with recruits and parents. With his recent success at Alabama and his transparency its going to be difficult for recruits not too sign. He said he loves face-to-face recruiting. June is going to be sweet and so will be December.

Pomspoms, sure hope this is correct. He has a rep as a great recruiter, and certainly demonstrated his coaching ability at Bama. Looks like he has a terrific staff at Texas - the next crucial step is to win the recruiting wars.

24/7 reporting a new name to remember is CB Avyonne Jones of Southlake Carroll, who recently de-committed from Oklahoma State.

He has been speaking with Coach Gideon a lot recently and could be a take at safety too.

247 and TFB saying the recent Alabama offer to S Bryan Allen, Jr. of Aledo is something to keep an eye on.

This is an offer he's always wanted, and it helps that former Aledo prospects like McClellan and Earle are in Tuscaloosa.

HHD,

Sark said Wednesday that he had been living at ATT Conference Center for five months. His wife was moving them into the house they had purchased in Austin that same day. He indicated that between covid and the dead period, they were chomping at the bit to get out and also host kids in June. He said to expect big things in June.

After listening to him talk, and talking to him one on one, I don't know what I expected, but I am convinced I'm getting more than I thought. The guy has a well thought out plan, has assembled a quality staff, and they are committed to not only winning the recruiting battles, but also winning on the field

:hookem2:

^Great post, SabreHorn. You have been a wealth of insight in the past, and I'm delighted to hear your favorable impressions of Sark. We're all very anxious to see Sark and his staff return the Longhorns to the top! :hookem:

Adrian Peterson also claimed he chose OU because he wanted to win a championship.
How'd that work out?
He watched from home as we beat USC.
You know what they say about the grass being greener.
I hope like hell Ewers is sitting on his burning couch as the Horns play for it all.

"Obviously, one day they will get back there and it’ll be great. But right now, it’s just, I’m just tired seeing that happen."

Stupid quote from a teenageer. He's tired of seeing Texas not be good so he's taking his talent to Ohio?

This 1.00 rated QB couldn't beat Westlake in the state championship which proves he can't take over a football game like Vince could. I said Vince because he was a 1.00 rated QB that chose Texas and he just willed the team to victory when the team was struggling. If anyone disagrees please watch clips of his state championship game where he did the same thing he did in the 2006 Rose Bowl.

And like it or not, the Westlake QB was better that night for sure. Time will tell if thats true but I was hoping for UT to get Klubnik. Just think he has a better game just like I thougth Brewer had a better game than Ehlinger. Brewer was not the kind of QB that binder boy wanted as he wanted a running QB.

I suppose that OSU might be a safer choice for Ewers at the moment but he has to know that Sark is going to turn our ship around.
There's got to be a couple of things troubling his mind though. First he knows that Sark is a first rate QB developer. 2nd that Sark will bring proven schemes that will showcase his talent and enable him to be a first round pick. 3rd that he and his family are lifelong longhorn fans and that he is being disloyal to the soil.
2021 success for the horns will go a long ways in helping him change his mind. But, no matter, we will be successful with or without him. We've got Card, Murphy and possibly Manning in the immediate future. We will always have top notch highly rated QBS going forward.

VY didn't win a state title at Madison. In fact, he lost in the semifinals to...wait for it...Westlake. You're probably recalling the regional game against a really good North Shore team where they just couldn't stop Vince at all. That score was 61-58.

Losing to Westlake in a HS playoff game didn't seem to matter much to VY's success in college. I suspect Ewers' loss to Westlake will be just as meaningless to his collegiate success too. If he changes his mind and wants to come be a Longhorn I for one will welcome him without reservation.

If he wants to bad mouth the program and run because of it's failings rather than be a part of the solution and restore it to prominence he can kiss my ***, get fitted for a new pair of jorts and enjoy those balmy winters at tOSU.

Well, he's bad mouthing the program right now which can't be good for recruiting.
Meanwhile Malik Murphy is recruiting his *** off.
**** him. I say.
If he stays with OSU then he shows he has little faith in Sark. Longhorn history is not relevant. We have a new regime. So he has more faith in coach Day and staff than Sark and staff at the moment. It's not a dumb decision but in my opinion its not the right decision cause he has a great opportunity to turn a program around ( not that its that bad) and gain accolades in his own state.
At least he didn't go to blow U.:ousucks:

Sangre,

I wasn't sold on Vince until I went to see him play that Northshore game in the Dome. Two plays that game (and to this day) stick out in my mind. VY on a QB draw up the middle for about 50 yards during which he outran that big, fast Northshore defense.

OK , he can run, but can he throw the ball? VY takes the snap, is flushed out to his right, loops around back to the left and tucks the ball to run; just before he gets to the line of scrimmage, he raises that right arm and "flicks" the ball across the field and 35-40 yards downfield (probably 60-65 yards in the air) for a TD. I was sold on just those two plays.

IT confirmed Allen should be in Tuscaloosa next week with his younger brother, Jaden, who is camping.

I think some of you are being way too hard on Ewers. How would we handle columnists in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s & 70s stalking us 24/7 for a story? The Chip Browns of the world.

His answer to the question was self-evident. If kids want to win a championships and it’s not happening in the last decade with Texas based teams, they will continue to select programs like Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. No news here. And no reason to second guess Ewers or his answer.

To those who are contending that he is not even the best quarterback in Texas, my take is that he carries a perfect rating by the services for a reason. People who do this for a living may not have a perfect track record but they’re not all stupid either. Remember that many believe he was injured late in the season and going into the championship game and that frankly, Westlake was probably a better football team that night. It happens.

With respect to his selection of a school, the fat lady has not sung yet. As I have said before, we shall see. All indications have been that Ewers’ dream was to play for Texas. The reason he decommitted had nothing to do with that dream. It had to do with a dysfunctional and problematic head coach and program. The staff and those circumstances have changed, dramatically. I have no doubt that in his mind, there is some second guessing and reassessing happening.
