2022 Recruiting - Football

I would have asked her why she felt that way. I might learn something.

I was just happy that she didn't report this to the diversity cops at my workplace. And to be honest I really didn't think I needed to justify myself to them and be subjected to all that red tape over something as petty as this.

I know, I may need an attitude adjustment... LOL

mentioned that our son, (the starting center on a Big 10 team) was being backed up by a really athletic black guy.
Obviously your comment was not judgmental, mean spirited, or racist. It was simply observational.

As those who have read my posts over the years know, I am not a member of the PC crowd. However, in this context, some might see this incident a bit differently...

Identifying the color of the backup player would — in the minds of some — bring race into the discussion. And they would have a point. Was she being overly sensitive? Perhaps. But the color or race of the backup player should not be relevant. So I can understand her reaction.

Expanding the conversation, if the backup player had an ethnic identity inconsistent with the position, would it be racist to mention it? Would mentioning that the backup RB of a major and high profile FBS program was white be racist? In my mind, no. Because it is a bit of an aberration. Same would be true if the backup nose guard was, say, Scandinavian.

It’s an interesting discussion.

June can't get here fast enough waiting for recruiting news. I am expecting a few verbals.
I think if it were me, however, I'd wait till the end of the season to commit somewhere.
Just to get a better feel.

"This also leaves underrated three-star Arlington Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson as the lone commit in the Longhorns 2022 class that does not hold the status of a blue chip prospect."

I will be absolutely shocked if Trevell is not given a 4th star before the '21 season is over. He is truly "allsome".

:bevo:

I forgot, way back when Joe Fan mentioned that ESPN has already given him a 4th star. I do so miss Dr Joe Fan...not that there's anything wrong with that...

On ATH Arlis Boardingham of Van Nuys, CA...IT confirmed that he is being recruited as a TE by Texas which is his preferred position, and that Coach Banks is recruiting him the hardest along with having Zoom calls with Sark every so often.

He mentioned that he grew up with former Texas LB De'Gabriel Floyd, who is his "godbrother", and that he would like to study business (he's aware of the McCombs school's reputation).

He'll be in Austin on June 25th for his official visit.

Totally agree. Stacking up that many that will not get sufficient playing time makes no sense as they will portal out. Perhaps thats the new model of get all you can, let the others move on. Doesnt seem like a good plan but as noted, we have about 40 WR and only a handfull can play at a time. Binder boy used that method to increase his class rankings but didnt do us much good on the field.

Sark is looking for the cream that rises to the top and if others portal out then so be it. I guess that plan could backfire by way of negative recruiting if we lose a lot to portalling. I guess recruiting strategy has changed due to the portal and Sark is adapting. I hope I haven't been redundant.

Legend,

I take it you failed the Tom Osborne class on recruiting - "How to make the 110 limit stretch into 220"
Guilty. Tom had the luxury of the Nebraska home grown scholarship program to fund that stuff. He was someone who took advantage of what was there so I dont fault him as it seemed to workout for Nebraska.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I thought he was always going to be an early enrollee. If Cain is going nowhere, and playing a tough schedule with some teams known for cheap shots, maybe he's smarter than others.

Any other thoughts I may have are irrelevant.

IT saying he had a big falling out with his coaches and thinks Texas should take a hard pass on him based on things they've heard.

Kind of like everyone took a pass on Kenneth Sims except two of Fred's assistants?

Please enlighten me as to anyone at IT whose opinion I would respect. Not putting them down because I have no idea who works there or what their knowledge level is versus their desire to seek attention.

Raises a red flag for me. Of course I don't know the kid but I am reminded of the Evans situation, kid with a big head who went to TCU. But, maybe this is a business decision and its a strategical decision. More facts will come out I'm sure but until then that red flag will be flying.

Y'all give up on the kid without having any information or knowing the facts and then wonder who that kid is tearing our defense a new *** in the Cotton Bowl in a couple of years OR rolling for 150 in the National Championship Game.

I'm old, and this ain't DKR's teams of the 60s. Get the facts, formulate an educated thought, or SHUT THE **** UP!

Sound like a bunch of damn Aggies.

Agreed Sabre - short of any facts I don't support an opt-out, but not knowing ANY facts means I have no opinion. He's welcome here as long as Sark welcomes him in my opinion.

Denver Harris of Galena Park North Shore had a Zoom call yesterday with multiple members of the staff, and all is still great on that end.

It's still a super tight race between Bama and Texas, but there is a small possibility that Harris will commit around July 4th when S Bryce Anderson does.
