2022 Recruiting - Football

Don’t understand the issue with Foster but good luck to him. I think he’ll make an NFL squad after he graduates.
What has he shown you to make you believe that? I was in his corner throughout his career until late this season. He just doesn't make enough plays, and often gets burned by making High School level mistakes on basic things like pursuit angles.
Understandable when you're a Freshman/Soph and still learning the college game, not so much when you're supposed to be among the experienced leaders on the defense.

I can't say that in my entire life of football playing than then watching, I have ever seen a defender leisurely jogging behind a runner or at angle unsuccessfully more than once or twice total, except for the literally dozens of times, if not more, I witnessed by Mr. Foster. I don't like to call out current players, but I suppose he is now a SHSU player. After his freshman season, it was never the same with him. Not sure why. He has the talent and skill, but I question his want-to.

I too was a big supporter of Foster even going into this year, but he missed a lot of assignments, was out of position often and missed some tackles trying to get a big hit. I hope the best for him too and maybe he finds his groove in Huntsville !

Only if his issues are between the ears and can be fixed. However, if he was NFL ready he would not be going to another college, especially the level of a Sam Houston State.

Didn’t say he was NFL ready. Said that I believe he’ll make an NFL roster after he graduates.

I first saw him in the Army All-American. What a hitter. Same with his freshman year. Then he got injured. With K, the D changed. Yes, it could be between his ears, but it could also be placement and positioning. I doubt that he has lost his skill set. Not sure either S or CB are the best positions for him. Nickel?

6’2” and 200. With some weight perhaps he would be better at Buck.

Nothing I know about him makes any sense.

Fantastic news!

And for what’s for it’s worth, Camar Wheaton (Bama)just entered the portal.

After seeing Ruben Owens in person this year and comparing to Camar Wheaton last year, everything else being equal and assuming their HS ability would translate to college, I would take Wheaton over Owens 9 times out of 10. That kid was electric.

"The elite prospect actually signed with the Longhorns in December choosing Texas over offers from Oklahoma, USC, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU and Texas A&M."

It just occurred to me what Sark has done with the portal since at Texas (offense only):
  • Xavier Worthy WR
  • Keilan Robinson RB
  • Ewers QB
  • Neyor WR
  • Billingsly TE.

All the guys listed above will have significant playing time in their careers, if not next year alone.

OL: 2x5*, 3x4*, 2x3*

is outstanding. Plus picking up QB, WR, and TE in transfer portal. It seems like Sark can get whomever he wants on offense (Archie, anyone?). This is one of the best offensive recruiting classes for Texas in a long time.

Campbell is an enormous get—literally and figuratively. A complete ready to play now guard with no discernible weaknesses. A real BAMF on the football field. Controls his portion of the line of scrimmage. Runs blocks like a bulldozer. Also a very good pass blocker. Way too quick for his size. Best guard to sign here in many years.

Welcome aboard.

an almost can’t miss guard to go with our almost can’t miss tackle (Banks)

Mabe the best OL recruiting class ever, and not just best Texas OL class.
