2022 Recruiting - Football

Sark stated there are over 1000 kids currently in the portal....that blows me away! Naive for me to think it was far less...

A potentially dangerous form of Free Agency has arrived in college football.

Will be sad to see Harris wasted as a tard.
It displeases me greatly to see my friends with Developmental Disabilities (including mental retardation; a.k.a. "tards") unceremoniously thrown in the same boat with aggy. What did people with Developmental disabilities ever do to deserve being so visiously slandered.

Sark did what he needed to do............get some serious talent along the LOS...............if he can stack a couple more like this for 23 and 24 we will be in the immortal words of Buckwheat..........OTAY!

I can't blame Stewart , Campbell, Perkins, and Harris for waiting to sign. Bidding, like at an auction, from different teams, raises more money for them the longer they wait. Then they can pick who they want play for, not necessarily the highest bidder but a team whom they favor who has now offered more money. Its called leveraging.
I wonder if getting a degree is going to mean anything? Probably to a few it will.
They do work hard, blood sweat and tears and risk limb and life even, so they do deserve compensation.
If a player stays around for 4 years he could have hundreds of thousands when he leaves. I left college in debt. So good for them, they will have earned it.

I’ve read through the posts from the last few days again this morning and there is one glaring miss in all of the feedback.

Here it is-

Sark, Flood and everyone else have done an ALLSOME job in this their first recruiting class.

I have a family member with intellectual difficulties, and would never use that term. Aggy is aggy, I changed my post to be less harsh.

I know it's fun to trash aggy..and I'll get burned for this...
But in my view they are in an excellent position at the ATM (he he he) in terms of progression of program, relevance, stability, recruiting, talent, leadership, fan support. product on field, and potential in the next few years. It turns out moving to the SEC as well as hiring Jimbo were both good moves. Certainly the best position they've been in in my adult lifetime.

Poop away...

I wondered if Jimbo could overcome the Aggy cult. He's not an Aggy. He's an accomplished coach who doesn't give a crap about anything except what he's doing and he won't put up with nonsense. He probably ignores the fan base and does what he does. That being said, he's still way overpaid based upon results. Something is luring these kids in and I'm not sure I can put my finger on it because I think it's more than just money. There's a message being delivered and being heard.

One thing I've always noted about Aggy, they have an amazing ability to sell the future. And if you haven't heard it before, it's infectious.

Kind of like a TV evangelist.

When a school like Jackson St can lure a 5-star away from a Florida St. with $1 million dollars, recruiting in the future is going to be all about money. The BMDs better loosen up their wallets. If they want a championship, they’re going to have to buy it. Aggy has some very rich, very fanatical boosters. It’s going to get expensive.

Yes, and yet...

4-star LB Kobie McKinzie details why he wound back up at Oklahoma

“Brent Venables, his name speaks for itself. It truly does. He can go anywhere in the country any time, anywhere and ask for a job and he’s going to get hired. I promise you. Talking to him and with my family, you know, what he said to me and how he is, it meant a lot to me. He’s a relational guy. Most programs in the country are more so transactional and he wants to actually build a relationship with you. He’s a great guy, great human being. I want great people around me that love ball just like he does,” McKinzie said of Venables."

Quien sabe?

From what we are to believe, Venables made a huge personal connection in a matter of days... the money had nothing to do with it.

They look pretty solid and have a good D, but they never can seem to get a QB and consistent passing game working. Similar to Auburn in a number of ways.

Lots of folks eating crow - enough for leftovers.

It's because we're using logic combined with perception. We don't know all the facts.

Apparently the money and the possibility that high schoolers (and their parents) are not judging Sark on the basis of his first year (injuries, Herman's players etc)...

The cult around the SEC started to kick in for Texas HS players. This week may be the apogee for aggy. With Texas going to SEC and if Sark pulls it together next year for 9 wins, we will be in same or better position than aggy.

That's a great point about the SEC. But that's been there for years. Maybe the victory over Alabama opened more eyes.
