2022 Recruiting - Football

Still weird to me that we had 3 in state QBs in the Top 26 players in the country (5-stars) and none of them are coming here.

a 4* WR from Louisiana took notice ...

Hamilton is going all-in on the kool-aid today - now saying that Shazz Preston spoke with the coaching staff last night and has been in regular contact for the last few weeks. Also thinks that Quency Wiggins may not be a take for Bama due to scheme fit so it may come down to LSU and Texas.

If we trot out an above-average (or better) OL this season, and Bijan runs wild, I think OL recruits will take notice and the dominos will start falling up front for us.

This is a Mike Tyson punch in the gut for me.

Not only that but Ewers grew up a longhorn fan.

I could understand him backing off on Herman but why didn't he commit to Sark knowing that he is at the top of the list of quarterback coaches? That confuses me.
I hope to hell we do to Ewers what we did to (that great RB that went to OK...senior moment) and win a championship.

Herman spoiled the broth on this one. Ewers ditched Herman and had already committed to OSU and built relationships before Sark could get a foot in the door. Although Sark and Ewers spoke several times, The Ewers-OSU relationship was just too far along at that point.

More like the Ewer$- O$U Relation$hip. Kid has watcued fewer than a dozen practices and they sign him to a seven figure NIL deal.

NIL just started and already I yearn for the old days of illegal cars and cash.

It will be interesting to see what happens at OSU this year if Stroud kills it, exodus of qbs in transfer portal? How long do they stick around!

Will America's No. 1 QB recruit Quinn Ewers give up 7-figure NIL offers for one more season of Texas high school football?

"Ewers and his parents, Curtis and Kristen, made it clear that that their preference would be that Quinn stays in high school and is allowed to sign the deals. But that option doesn’t appear available, as UIL deputy director Jamey Harrison said in a phone interview that the decision is essentially out of the UIL’s control.

The legislation that passed in Texas prohibits these types of agreements,” Harrison told Yahoo Sports. “Given that those types of agreements are prohibited by state law, we could not be open to it.”

Reports: Ohio State freshman QB Quinn Ewers signs $1.4M NIL deal

"As reported on by Yahoo Sports’ Pete Thamel, Ewers’ home state of Texas does not allow high school athletes to profit from the use of their name, image and likeness as part of its state NIL law. That caused Ewers, a star quarterback from Southlake Carroll High School in suburban Dallas, to leave the state and head to Ohio to a headstart on his college career — and put some endorsement money in his pockets."

A little bit of fireworks in the pay boards last night with the Tapp commitment. Ketch changed his crystal ball a few minutes after the Tapp commitment and he got roasted by Gerry Hamilton and others which led to a total meltdown by Ketch.

Oh lort, Ketch is mad. I could see him punishing a wing bar tonight.

If our offense impresses this season and the QBs develop, I will be surprised if some high end QBs don’t reconsider. After all, they all want to be the next Matt Jones.

He just got $$1.4MM to do signatures in a NIL deal. And he won't play a damned down this season barring injury to other QBs.

It's not going to be hard for him to do that with all that talent around him.
I hope we meet in the playoffs.
