2022 CWS

No chopped liver on the plate at the CWS.

I could be all wet, but ND and Ole Miss give me the most heartburn of all the opposing teams.

So with aggy and blow/u playing each other. What is the O/U of Horns down signs. I will start with 989. Yep, it will be a hate fest for sure! :hookem:
:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

I feel much better about our pitching situation with the stevens performance. He texted pierce and Allen and ask to start that game and then went out and pitched well after doing nothing the first two games. He was focused and intense the entire game even after he finished up. He pitched well the first part of the year and then had some issues. I think this game will give him confidence and will carry over to the cws.

We now have a 3rd starter again. Bullpen has been a little better. Still missing that “lights out” closer but maybe someone will step up. I still think our lineup and defense is the best there.

Hookem.

OK, so, being the DEVIL'S ADVOCATE here re: Horns 2 most hated rivals. How would you answer these questions:

1. Which team would you rather beat given a choice?
2. Which team would you rather play in this setting that gives the Horns a better chance to advance?

Me, I pick ou. We beat them 2 of 3 IIRC during the regular season. We have lots of scouting and film on them. Schlosnaggle (sic) aggy is evidently good and we have no recent BB history or film on the mofos.

What say you?

alot of interesting teams in this WS. OU is hot as hell right now. Irish are hot now too. Everyone of these matchups are interesting to me. Ole miss is playing with a lot of heart to get there.

I think aggy goes 0-2. I think Texas-OU play in the winner’s bracket and ND eliminates aggy. What happens after that (starting with the Tx-OU game), I don’t know.

ND is playing very well. Horns better be focused. I make no assumption we get past the Irish to play ou or aggy.

Just wanted to extrapolate beyond the Irish to the low lives...

One game at a time.

I really wanted Tennessee that first game, mainly because Hansen had his way with them earlier in the season. The Irish worry me more for some reason

So, looking at the irish, our opponent Friday night. They handled their pitching pretty strange in the regional with Texas tech. Looks like they rely on Bertrand, Findlay, Rao and Temple. Temple and Bertrand are their starters. Findlay and Rao their relievers but they used Findlay in one of their playoff games for 5 innings. the strange thing they did was to start the third game in the regional with Bertrand and went 7.2 innings after he started the first game in the regional and throwing 1 inning.

If any of their starters struggle you are getting a good dose of Rao and Findlay and they will pull their starter at the first sign of failure. 1 inning or two is not out of the norm.

*Austin Temple RHP 6'4" 180lbs. not a great fastball but the curve drops pretty good on a 12 to 5 plane. I would expect a good dose of off speed but if he throws that fast ball its likely getting hit hard some where by our lineup, it looks that slow to me but there may be some movement to it that I couldn't see.

*John Bertrand LHP 6'3" 225 Against Tech, he threw alot of off speed, sliders, didn't see a very good fast ball with him either, just a lot of pitches that start outside the zone and ending in the zone fooling the batters or starting in the zone and ending low outside the zone (some one please inform Faltine :). Tech is a pretty decent hitting team and lost to Notre Dame by 1 run both games in two low scoring affairs.

Alex Rao RHP 6'4" 230lbs seems like all the Notre Dame pitchers are fairly tall, this is their flame thrower, he touches 95mph, a pretty good change of pace compared to the others I saw with a low 80's slider, thats where its deadly, I'm not sure what I saw tailing away from lefty's or into the rightys but it does tail away from his arm side.

Jack Findlay LHP 6'3" 200lbs. doesn't have a great fastball either, from what I saw he relies on off speed, deception and similar to Bertrand, the balls just seem to loop in a left to right downward motion similar to a lot of lefties.

Not sure who we will see as the starter, Im guessing Bertrand but depending on the game we will likely see Findlay and Rao enter the game.

Well, the announcer was a dumbass:

That is a change from after the game last night (this morning). They said Texas would play the first game. The only problem with the late game is the prospect of playing after the afternoon thunderstorm. 30% chance late Friday afternoon.

I haven’t seen all that much of them until very recently, but Alex Rao looks real good. In addition to his heat, he throws a lot of split fingered pitches with some good drop on them. Tough pitcher to hit.

And everybody who understands ND knows they will get weird random lucky breaks and the close calls. And the media will fawn all over them.

We are the team to beat. This was always a tournament team. Lots of talent, just needed to get mad.
I’d love to kick Dame’s aaa and follow up with an Aggie beat down. Then one more Aggie beat down for good measure.
Then finish off the Pigs in 2.

Everyone there has been playing well and comes in hot. Our guys were there last year and know what to expect. We are more talented than ou, aggy, and Irish and they weren’t there last year. Texas expects to be there. Ou, aggy, and Irish are happy to get there. Irish is a very experienced team and their pitching staff is deep. I like our chances but we have to play our game.

I hope Texas wins the first game and A&M goes 2 and barbecue. I'm fine with letting OU/ND eliminate them. I know it's OU, but I can't work up the hate for a Skip Johnson-coached team.

Overall, I'd say our stats are better than anybody in the CWS.

Tennessee didn't make it...
