2022-2023 Non Big12 Teams

ESPN is currently hosting a College GameDay from Knoxville in the run-up to the UCONN at Tennessee matchup tonight. I’m guessing it’s going to be a good game

UConn ended up beating Tennessee pretty handily, even without Azzi Fudd and Caroline Ducharme. I still don't get it with Tennessee... they're STACKED with talent. But like Vic says, "You don't win games on paper... you gotta go play."
On a side note, Geno was SUPER PISSED about the inconsistent refereeing at halftime and let it be known when speaking with Holly Rowe.

I watched it too! Thought Tennessee would make a game of it at halftime after overcoming UCONN’s almost perfect 1st Qtr as they had a layup-fest with a few 3 pointers mixed in. Muhl had 7 assists in that Qtr. alone.

Lou Lopez Senachel was sensational and having the time of her life. I’m happy all her hard work has taken her beyond her dreams.

I had to root for UCONN in this one because we’re hovering around the same area the Lady Vols are and there’s only so much room in the top 25

That will be interesting. Thanks for the heads-up! BTW, how does the scheduling work in the SEC? Too many teams to do home and home with everyone, especially after we join. Everyone once, alternating sites each year?

I think they play their Division twice and the others once but not sure. I just know Arkansas has already played LSU twice this season

I think you play everyone in your division twice (home and away) each season, and alternate home and away every other season with teams in the other division. It was the same way in the Big XII originally if my memory serves me correctly.

Had to turn off the LSU-Tennessee game. LSU doing well and I can't take it. Reminds me of how HUGE were the Baylor games when Mulkey was the coach. Sometime in the near (1,2,3 years?) future we will be again facing off against her on a regular basis. Not a fan of her humanity, but oh goodness, those games will be awesome!

Tennessee has some talented players, but I think they would benefit from better coaching.
I was telling a friend that Tennessee looks like a poorly-coached team. On paper with their talent and depth, they should be a Top 5 team.

Similar to us, they’ve had some significant injuries this season.

I was playing the recent South Carolina-Alabama game as background and overheard one of the announcers say that Kamilla Cardoso went back to Brazil over the summer and the break allowed her to "re-engage with basketball". Hmmm...maybe it'd be easier to stay "engaged" if you don't transfer to a team where you are going to sit the bench behind the best player in women's college basketball who has 2-3 years of eligibility remaining?

KA’s UTSA squad beat #21 Middle Tennessee today 58-53. UTSA now 6-16 with 9 of their losses coming by 5 points or less, 12 of the 16 losses by 8 or less.

UTSA spent most of the game in a zone - I haven’t been following UTSA all that match but that’s definitely different for the Aston we all knew. A stat that hurts my brain: MTSU hit 10 3s but only scored 53 points. They attempted 54!

#2 Stanford , #11 North Carolina and #12 Iowa State all lost to unranked teams this past week.
