2021 Recruiting - WBB

This is a wonderful time to see how the top players match up. In a normal year, I would be out watching a game or two. Not with this weather though. The DeSoto and Duncanville games were both canceled today.

Casper JUCO is now 9-0 after winning last saturday, Feb 13. They are now ranked number 7 JUCO team in nation. Kobe had 18 points on 7-10 shooting, with 2-3 from BTA and 2-2 free throws. In previous game of Feb 11, she had 17 points on 6-9, with 2-3 from BTA and 3-4 free throws. On the game of Feb 5, she had 15 points on 7-12 shooting, 1-3 from BTA, 0-1 free throw. Her rebounds and assists have been solid. All three games were blowouts. The team plays lots of players so her stats are not huge. Her efficiency is good as she is averaging 15 pts per game on 55% overall shooting, 55% from BTA, 78% free throw percentage, all in 25 minutes per game. The competition is not great; however, that is not her fault and she seems to be playing well. Looking forward to her in burnt orange in just a few short months.

Casper JUCO is now 10-0 after a 46 point win on Saturday. Kobe had 10 points in a balanced team win. Casper starts regional playoffs wednesday. Very strange to be in playoffs after a ten game season.

Only 10 games in a regular season? She should've just enrolled at Texas early if she was only going to play a 10 game regular season

You have to graduate from JUCO first before you can enroll at a Division I school (unless you were a full qualifier out of high school).

She has so much potential. You can see it when she plays its just going to take some great coaching to get her to Play at that next level and she has the perfect coach to do so in Johnnie Harris.

This is Stephanie Soares she is a mobile 6'6 big who can also guard well. She was in the 2018 class and originally from Brazil but was homeschooling in Pflugerville tx. So she was literally down the street and I'm not sure how the previous staff let her get out the city! She eventually ended up attending The masters university which is wierd considering she was ranked in the top 60 on espn. Was named NAIA player of the year where she averaged 20.7 PPG and 13.7 RPG

I bring her up because someone told me she could possibly be entering the portal or looking to compete at a higher level. Unfortunately she had an injury in December which required surgery so she will be out a while but if she does decide to leave. This staff needs to jump right on it!

I believe her mother is Susan Anderson. Anderson played for Texas back in the day.

Susan was a good player for Coach Conradt. This makes it even more puzzling how she got away from UT in the first place. Hopefully she will want to finish up at UT. :hookem:

She attended The Masters because she wanted to play with her sister, who is a senior this year. Similar to Vivian Gray who went to a Division II school first. She had all kinds of connections there: Nationally-ranked recruit picks Master's - The Master's University Athletics

With her sister graduating, not surprising that she may be looking elsewhere.

To have that kind of size with that type of mobility....wow.... You are spot on... I hope our staff is all over this!!!

It's official... "The Three Mickey D's.":hookem:

If I'm not mistaken Rickea Jackson was the first McDonald's All American that Vic & Co hauled in at Mississippi State, seven years into their tenure there. That said, I think it speaks volumes about the future of our program that they were able to pull in three in their first UT recruiting class along with a couple of top-rated JUCO players.

I listened to the podcast of Bohls and Golden and they had Vic on there. He said implied that part of the pull of coaching at Texas was it was easier to get McD All Americans or players of that stature at a school like Texas. Not his exact words, but to that effect.

Apparently it wasn't easy to recruit to Starkville, MS. Yet he still put a high quality product on the floor with mostly what is considered "second-tier" recruits.

But as Vic was obviously gleeful at pulling in 3 All Americans, I thought back to Mukley saying, "Well, I don't have 10 McDonald All American's on my bench". Another acid backhand...whatever...but it was true.

I certainly understand why. I drove there one night from the airport in Jackson. For 2 hours I was sure I was lost. Textbook definition of "middle of nowhere".
