2021 Recruiting - Football

Can't be good to be losing out on 3 stars to 3rd rate schools that are further away - one thing if it's to a closer zip code so their family can see them play, go home on weekends, etc.

I'm still not convinced the Herman is already finished - a win out scenario means a B12 win and NY Day bowl - while unlikely, it is possible. Just can't see firing him after that.

But if we keep losing four and five star recruits we'll have to fire the staff sooner or later. I don't think the big cigars will be satisfied with mediocrity--4 or 5 loss seasons after season. The quicker we get rid of Herman the better.
I am afraid of South Carolina or Michigan getting Urban Meyer before we do.

You or I will be the HC at those 2 schools before Meyer.

Shemar Turner with an aggy CB

However, Wiltfong put in a flip CB pick for DT Byron Murphy to Texas, Turner's Desoto teammate and current Baylor commit
IT also thinks we will flip him, and that it would help us with Turner

BTW, former player Darius Terrell is on the Desoto staff

Murphy is a little undersized but plays like Poona Ford - knocks around some OLs and penetrates
Byron Murphy II, DeSoto, Defensive Tackle

Roach on Murphy

I have joined 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong with a flip pick for DeSoto (Texas) defensive tackle Byron Murphy II. The three-star defensive tackle chose Baylor in the summer, but the work Texas defensive tackles coach Mark Hagen and defensive coordinator Chris Ash have done behind the scenes along with some relationship building by Jay Valai has been effective. Two separate sources I spoke with indicated that communications between both sides have been ongoing and kept very quiet for a while.

Murphy also holds offers from Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and TCU. A close friend and teammate of four-star defensive lineman Shemar Turner, Murphy is one of the best true defensive tackle prospects in the state. Murphy tested very well at The Opening's regional camp in 2019 and showed fantastic metrics in the strength and quickness areas. He finished his junior season as a 6A all-state selection.

At 6-foot-1, 290 pounds, Murphy is ranked as the No. 24 defensive tackle in the nation and No. 61 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports Composite.

Landing Turner would not hurt either
I'm greedy. Lets take both.lol. If things on the field continue in a positive direction, this class may turn out to sniff the top 10. Think there's too much uncertainty in regards to herman to improve much more than that.
