2021 Recruiting - Football

Texas couldn’t be in a better position right now for recruiting. We lost Jalen Milroe but I’d trade him for all the other positions that Quinn’s announcement will be bringing on board.

Another point is we’re playing Football this year. So with many teams not playing these recruits that get 4 or 5 visits will now increasing our odds they will use them to come to our games. We get these recruits on campus and knowing what we are building (specially with the announcement of Ewers) Big time players will be committing.

This is crazy how good of a situation we are in.

The real "crazy good situation" will be if we look consistent and impressive on the field. A 10-1 or even 9-2 season with a big12 championship and/or major bowl win combined with the buzz and recruiting/talent momentum would really set a firm foundation for 2021 and beyond.
Now, making the playoffs and/or even winning would set it off like...

Something to think about, with us playing and the PAC definitely not playing we have a punchers chance at getting guys like OT Johna Miller on campus, he was enamored with Texas over last winter and wanted to take a visit, if we can get him on campus we stand a chance of flipping him from Oregon. same with Donovan Jackson from Ohio State. Get them to games and on Campus and we stand a great chance of flipping them. The biggest priority to me is Savion Byrd, we need to get him back on Campus and see if we can get some momentum with him.

Myslinski quote

“How I play is how my dad taught me to play. I’m not one of these soft linemen. I don't believe in that crap. I'm going to try and drive you until the whistle blows and sometimes maybe even a little past the whistle. That’s kind of how it is. You can’t teach someone that. So that's kind of when I taught myself.”

“Honestly, I feel like people have always looked down upon me, or underrated me or don't think I'm very good,” Myslinski said. “I got bullied a lot when I was younger and I just really focused on football. That was my way out, I felt like. At basketball practice too, if you’re going to do something, do it 110 percent every time or don't do it at all. I try hard at everything I do.

Jonah Miller is someone who if we can get to visit as he had planned, would be a great get. I can imagine him watching BJ at practice and asking Herman if he can get out there and block for him. Miller is a Guard on the OL.

Jackson is not from Texas, but Ohio, so little chance he flips. Byrd seems to be floating in uncertainty. So if he does not get focus soon, no chance for Texas. Bryce Foster is a good one Texas needs.

Some rumors making the rounds

aggy offered (or gave) Omeire cash - we refused to engage. We purportedly took the position with Omeire with something like this -- "we're not playing that game, but we will get you in a position/exposure to make millions"

Bowman is solid/Conner is the most solid guy we've had in years/Ibraheem has one of this class' more active recruiters behind the scenes

Milroe was going to de-commit with or without Ewers

The Brothers Brock were all burnt orange until their dad's feelings were hurt (about something). After that, dad was determined to see them at Alabama (or some big school other than UT). Also, the brothers are still trying to get other players from 21 class to flip/de-commit. They are actively recruiting against us.

I hope Omeire invested it immediately after laundering it. Props to Herman (and all others before him at Texas) and another reason I tire of hearing how Herman cannot recruit against questionable programs.

Big Hook 'Em to those guys. Ibraheem and Coffey are close, so .....

It had to be obvious as he was no longer recruiting for Texas and he was answering all callers. Conner and the other guys must have known and informed Herman. No surprise to UT.

Well, whatever. I think the B Bros are talented but I think they are soft too in that they played against not the most talented players in Texas and are complacent about their skills. In a few words, not highly motivated junkyard dogs. Texas was lucky. We will see.

probably time to drop the negative talk of Brock's and others.....they are gone and if they even reconsider, the negative talk would not help Texas get them.

From my perspective, actively recruiting against and trying to get our current commits to de-commit means just the opposite. It means they are not gone.
And the parents still have tickets to our home games, so they certainly arent gone.

Some quotes from recent offer OL Jack Leyrer of Highland Park

“It meant a lot. I’ve been a Texas fan for a long time and getting an offer from a big in-state school like UT is awesome.”

On the late offer -- “To a degree, yes. I have been building relationships with some of these coaches going on six months now.”

On trainer Donald Hawkins - “Donald loves Texas. I haven’t seen him since I got the offer. I’m sure he will talk my ear off when I see him next.”

“I plan on making a commitment before the season. I will probably be making a trip to Austin in the next week or so.”

I touched on this a while back. Why are they being so aggressive against Texas? There is something going on behind the scenes and if they are intent on this type of activity ON TOP OF leaving the state to be a mercenary for Alabama then there must be some serious hard feelings going on.

It's in the "rumors" post above. Dad reportedly got pissy about something. And it has not let up.

I dont know what it was about, but my guess would be he wanted to join the staff as an OL coach. But its just a guess
Actually, I think you might be on to something there. Maybe he was only offered a consultant position? Is Shipley still on the staff? HS football relations, I think.

Ezra Dotson-Oyetade 6'3" 285 lb. Center from Garland
CB to ASU by Roach of 247Sports. I think Texas should have offered, oh well.

I get the feeling there is more to him than is public since no big programs offered, it wasnt just us
Maybe academics, but I thought Garland was pretty good. Hmmmmm ....
No, Navy, Texas, Rice and SMU among about 20 others offered also.

3 other CB now including Wiltfong. But Roach seems to be missing.
