2021 NCAA tournament

20 win season and on to the Sweet Sixteen! Amazing job all things considered. Well done Vic & Staff... very well done!
I'm so proud and happy for this group! Shout out to Celeste, Joanne, Kyra, and Lauren... Y'ALL SHOWED TF OUT TONIGHT!!!:hookem:

Close did a really ****** scout on Texas. They started the game wanting to shoot jumpers against us and our defense is more than able to shut that down. I guess they found some film in the locker room at the half and discovered the way to beat us is to dribble drive into the paint and let us foul you. Kudos to us for continuing to score and not give up the entire 21 point lead.

A 20 win season and a Sweet Sixteen is pretty much all we could ask for this season and kudos to Vic for pulling that off. Anything else will be icing. A great first season for the program under Vic as it stands

Unbelievable win without Charli. Guess this team is ready to move on without her. Gutzy!
We should be really careful with this, because we don’t go up 20 in the first half without her. Defensively she was a space eater and offensively she often ate up a lot of coverage. When you look at how open Celeste and Joanne were on a lot of their shots it’s because the defenders were out of position because of how they were covering Charli.

Offensively she didn’t show up in the box score very much but you better believe the teams noticed her on the floor.

So proud of our players and coaching staff; team was focused and confident; they all knew without a doubt that they could win tonight.

And, her 3-point shot to end the first quarter (I think) really provided a lot of momentum for everyone.

In Vic's press conferences over the last 2-3 weeks, he kept saying that his teams are built to peak and play their best this time of year. I'm a believer based on what I have seen the last few games, including our home loss to Baylor.

Charli defended their star player VERY well in the first half. It seemed both teams struggled to get momentum going in the second half... the dang whistle was blown every three seconds. Charli's defense was definitely a factor in building that big lead.

What about the minutes on the floor for Ebo. Nice effort. And Celeste Taylor .... whaaaaaat .... just came to play from the start.
Celeste is so similar to Ariel Atkins that it's scary. When each can stay out of early foul trouble and hit their first shot of the game, things typically go well for Texas.

I think everyone will agree that we are not known as a jump-shooting team. But, tonight, all those plays (curls?) for Celeste and Joanne where they dribble-penetrated and found the soft spots in UCLA's zone defense were just about all net (except for one where Celeste's shot hit the rim, bounced up and then fell through the hoop; and, one that kind of rattled back and forth in the rim and sank in). That's what I think Rori and Kyndall will be really good at next season; but, great to see our current guards hit those shots all night as we needed them

I just want to say that this is the team Vic has believed in all season granted Charlie had a off game but if you watched the flow of the game it just wasn’t the night for her to be in the spotlight and we wasnt going to win this particular game game on Charlie’s back. Thing is this team has not STILL had a game where the guards and Charlie clicks at the same time. If they do we could be looking at a final four for real. The first game it was Ashley off the bench this game it was Ebo. That our bench is finally ready to peak and Warren was “hurt”. I believe in this team even if we don’t get past Maryland Texas is going to be very very good in the near future.

So happy for this team.
1. Charlie did a good job keeping them from getting in the paint in the first half. She hit the 3 so nicely, I am surprised she did not go out to shoot a couple more of those.
2. Refs called two different games in the first and second half. I thought we were never going to get in the bonus in the 4th but predictably they had make up calls to even up the game.
3. Vic can teach defense and disrupting the other team.
4. Announcers were about to dump on Texas not being successful for a long while until they saw we were in the sweet 16 just 3 years ago (2018).
5. It would be great to get one more round.

I think Celeste played her best offensive (and maybe all-around) game in a Texas uniform in the most important game of her Longhorn career thus far:
