2021-2022 Season

I knew Creme was FOS with his bracket 4 days ago, especially as it related to Texas. He was in-studio tonight during the reveal on ESPN, and said he was surprised Texas was so much higher (a 2 seed) than he had them seeded (a 5 seed on Sunday, and then a 4 seed as of Tuesday), but then said it was because of our high NET ranking and the committee placing importance on SOS and best wins. Really Charlie, you didn't already know the committee's criteria?
Click bait Charlie.

I don’t really think it’s meant to say anything specifically because first of all, we’d need a way to compare the level of competition for each (including conference strengths).
It’s just an interesting milestone. With that said, I’m glad Vic is not far behind Jody

Without context, these numbers don't mean much. Karen and Vic were left with major gaps to fill. Don't know what the first three inherited.

Jody pioneered the game we now play. It’s safe to say she inherited nothing without actually making a statement about Page. She is the reason we all have such high expectations year after year. Sadly Jody left Gail with a somewhat depleted war chest but most would agree Gail didn’t have much success filling it back up. She did leave Karen with Imani which was huge. Karen recruited the hell out of the field and eventually righted the ship. Ultimately she did less with more.

The jury is still out on Vic but he seems to be headed in the right direction. That’s my take for what it’s worth. I agree it’s hardly meaningful when you don’t look at strength of schedule.

Yes, and aside from Leon Barmore, Pat Summit, and a small handful of other coaches (who was coaching at Rutgers and Old Dominion back then?), she was able to dominate pretty much everybody until the field finally caught up about 15 years later. I love the fact that our Longhorns were among the true pioneers in this sport.

Marianne Stanley was the head coach at ODU from the late 70s to the late 80s when they had 2 of their 3 Final Fours and a National Championship in 1985. Stanley coached Ariel at Washington as an assistant before leaving for the head coaching job with the Indiana Fever.

Fun Fact - ODU's other Final Four team (1997; lost to Tennessee in the championship game) has a secondary Longhorn connection: Ndjakalenga's mom was on that squad.

Just a gentle reminder:

Last year we split with OU, OSU and Tech and got swept by Baylor and West Virginia. But we ended the season with an Elite 8 run.

All is not lost.

Second reveal is tonight.

I think we'll fall out of the Top 8. Since our NET ranking is #10, we might be one of the #3 seeds, but won't surprise me if fall to a #4 seed simply because of that 3-game losing streak (to teams now ranked higher than us in NET)

For what it’s worth, Creme said last night at halftime Texas was probably looking at a #3 seed now, but did not rule out the possibility of still being able to move back up to the 2 line

Key words: “For what it’s worth”

When quoting Crème it’s never worth much. Before our losses to OU and Baylor he had us at a 4 because he didn’t realize our SOS. How does one make predictions without taking that into account? :rolleyes1:

Previously, our loss to Tech was still a Quadrant 1 loss. But, now that they've lost like games in a row and have a 9-13 w/l record, they've dropped into Quadrant 2. So, now we have one "bad" loss on our resume'.

During the post-game radio broadcast, Craig Way congratulated OSU coach Littrell for sweeping Texas Tech this season, especially considering Gray and Gerlich transferred from OSU to Tech one season ago. Guessing Craig took a jab there at Krista . . .

During halftime of the OU game our announcers interviewed Creme, he seemed pretty sure OU was going to win, and seemed to be planning on moving them up to a 2.

Great week for us as it pertains to our positioning among the projected Top 16 national seeds:

- we won both our games; and, beat #9 seed OU
- Michigan lost 2 games to unranked Michigan State and Northwestern
- Notre Dame lost today at Louisville
- Oregon lost today at home to Oregon State after having beaten OSU on Friday
- Georgia lost at home today to South Carolina
- A&M did not help our SOS as they lost at home to LSU

I'm very encouraged with the way we played last night against a tough team. I think some of that had to do with the momentum we built in the 4Q against Tech, and after this you've gotta think we have even more momentum going into Wednesday against ISU.

I really like our odds against our remaining 6 B12 opponents. We have ISU, then four games anagist teams we've already beaten and then a fifth against a KU team we should have beat. We definitely have the talent to win all 6, but ISU and KSU will be no easy feat.

I could see us going 6-0, or 4-2 at worst. We should have no issues beating TCU, WVU, OSU, and KU the second time around.

Of course this is purely speculative and as we have seen with this team nothing is a guarantee.
