2020 Recruiting - WBB

I'm going to guess that Ware ends up at Minnesota or Nebraska. Both schools are closer to home (South Dakota) and their current rosters are in need of players who play the 4/5 position. Currently Oregon's roster has the following players who play the 4/5 position. Ware may not get as much playing time as a freshman if she commits to Oregon.

6’5” RS Freshman Nyara Sabally
6’4” Junior Satou Sabally
6’6” Junior Lydia Giomi
6’5” Freshman Lucy Cochrane
6’4 Senior Ruthy Hebard

If Texas ends up getting Ware's commitment, major kudos are due to Aston & Co. for signing a player from South Dakota over Oregon, Minnesota and Nebraska.
Good points. I think that Oregon will have some transfers in the next couple of years because of lack of playing time when you also add their recruiting class for 2020. Having Iowa St, Kansas, and Kansas St in the conference could actually be an advantage for Texas.

Yes Ware is amazing! And although she has an amazing list of schools I believe Texas honestly is the best option for a two way player with her talent. Amazing development from both programs. Although I believe she will ultimately have to commit to one program over the other!

It's tough to make a prediction on where Ware will land without having read andy details of what she is looking for in a basketball/volleyball program, coaches' style, geography and climate, culture, personal and team goals, academics, etc.

From the article that LutherIsMyDog linked:

"Colleges are giving me the option," said Ware, who is interested in majoring in business, management or communications. "At first I thought I would've decided by now which sport I wanted to play in college. But I can't decide.”

Seems like Texas could be a great fit on all three counts: basketball, volleyball, business/communications . . .

Nebraska, Minnesota, Oregon are my predictions due to where she lives now. Texas is in play if she wants to get away from home. Don't have high hopes on this one.

Recruiting often times is about the relationships built with the head coaches. Minnesota and Nebraska have head coaches in their first or second years; same with Florida (which she may also be considering).

Oregon's head volleyball coach will be entering his third season at the helm, I believe.

Whether or not it's a factor, Texas' head coaches in both sports have a much longer tenure. And, of course, sometimes a new head coach can overcome having a shorter relationship with a recruit than their competition.

Minnesota and Nebraska is my guess, but hoping she wants to get away and enjoy some nice weather in Austin. All three schools have good volleyball and basketball programs.

Pretty sure this is directed at Sarah Andrews. Aston is putting the full court press on her trying to get her to come to Texas.

If Coach Aston were to somehow get Sarah Andrews it would be one of the best recruiting jobs of all time because the only advantage that Texas has over Baylor might be playing time. Unfortunately I just think that they would obviously be the save, smart, choice.

In all fairness, it was Kelby Jones, and not Coach Aston, who tweeted that. But, it did generate a "like" from Sarah Andrews! :coolnana:

Maybe it’s just my suspicious mind but this recent tweet seems to be focused on a specific individual:

Just some silliness from the media department but needed. Charli, Lashann and Sug enjoyed it and it’s nice to see some fun or at least light-heartedness around the program.

Saw a post today on a volleyball board that Lauren Ware announced a final five of UCLA, Texas, Arizona, Tennessee, and Minnesota. Haven't been able to find the social media yet myself validating that information.
