2020 Recruiting - Football

Is Ricks committed somewhere? Wonder if he will give the Horns a look now.

He committed to LSU in Dec but clearly we have his attention now.
We offered last summer (along with USC, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Mich, Notre Dame, ou, Wash ....). USC was the orig fav as they get 95% all Mater Dei 5-stars but obviously they have slipped. That high school also has 2020 4-star S Bryson Washington (who just visited us) and 5-star QB Bryce Young.

5-star RB from Fresno, Calif
#2 RB nationally
Thinking a little more about Texas players vs OOS — it’s great to get local kids, and there’s no shortage of talent in Texas. And I understand the dynamic of keeping good relations with Texas HS coaches.

But... I don’t think there is a big downside if you can load up on high quality OOS players like @Joe Fan mentioned above. The primary goal is to win. Compete for championships, and take up residence in that elite neighborhood, as Mack used to say. Winning like that makes the program a destination for great players, wherever they come from. Then maybe we have the luxury of less recruiting and more selecting.

There is something like 30 million Texans now, and 300 million, in the rest of the United States.

I want to keep the Texas high school coaches happy but not at the expense of ignoring the other 300 million population and what they can produce in football players.

I am thinking that ZE is our most important target to get in the 2020 class. I hope he is noticing the lineman we are getting. Also we are getting a lot of weapons around him that would make his job easier. Also getting a top DL would be nice too. Come on down ZE!:trophy:

For your viewing enjoyment, check out the stiff arm at 0:45-0:46.
His demonstrated gymnastic abilities are also noteworthy, in that he's something of an athletic freak (in a good sort of way). Something tells me he won't be a 3 star for long...

Another 2020 RB from Texas we are after is Ty Jordan from West Mesquite
He does not get as much ink as Zach but we see him as a nice complimentary back beside Evans. He is pretty exciting and I think his rating will probably rise too

Ty Jordan, West Mesquite, All Purpose Back

Some people don't like it when comparisons are made to current or former players. I'm not one of those persons.

I'm seeing some Eric Metcalf-like abilities in Ty Jordan's film.

:yikes:

He reminds me more of Ricky Williams because of his strength, power, speed and tough running. After viewing his film I am officially a Ty Jordan fan.:yikes:

Looks like ObiWan did a good job training Bru in the ways of the Force; instead of a remote ObiWan trained Bru with an oblong spheroid made of cowhide.

Will be cool totally freaking out opponents during warmups, levitating a football as he's going through warmup drills. In his Stormtrooper Whites.

An NCAA committee will have to go into emergency session to see if "use of the Force" in pass defense is legal, even if no contact is made with a wide receiver. Better question will be if as a wide receiver Bru is allowed to suspend the football in the air while pancaking an opposing DB, then just un-levitating the ball into his hands.

2020 is an interesting year for in-state recruiting imo. 6 of the Top 9 and 7 of the Top 11 recruits on 247 are North Texas. We lead for one (Jackson - Duncanville), but aren't in the CB discussion for any others.

Bryson Washington is back in Houston at CE King. I keep forgetting that for some reason

We made the top five for 2020 5-star WR Johnny Wilson from Calabasas, CA
No USC on the list. And we made it without a visit yet. Kinda interesting
