2020 Recruiting - Football

I get the impression that OSU, LSU, Aggy, and Bama have a concerted effort to keep Texas down. Otherwise, all their great recruits are gone.

ou has reportedly played a factor in us losing a recruit or two recently. While ou did not get them, they actually engaged in helping a third school keep them away from us

Does Salpointe Catholic play the big public high schools? Bijan's film is beyond outstanding. Just trying to gauge the competition.

Here's Salpointe's 2019 schedule:
Date / Opponent
8/30 7:00p Dobson (Mesa, AZ)
Location: Salpointe Catholic High School

9/6 7:00p @ Desert Edge (Goodyear, AZ)
Location: Desert Edge High School
Watch Live Broadcast

9/13 7:00p @ Del Valle (El Paso, TX)
Location: Del Valle High School

9/20 7:00p Cactus (Glendale, AZ)
Location: Salpointe Catholic High School

9/27 7:00p @ Tucson High Magnet School (Tucson, AZ)
Location: Tucson High Magnet School

10/4 7:00p @ Sahuaro (Tucson, AZ)
Location: Sahuaro High School

10/11 7:00p Casa Grande (Casa Grande, AZ)
Location: Salpointe Catholic High School
Preview Game

10/18 7:00p Canyon del Oro (Tucson, AZ)
Location: Salpointe Catholic High School
Preview Game

10/25 7:00p @ Catalina Foothills (Tucson, AZ)
Location: Catalina Foothills High School *Rivalry Game

11/1 7:00p Vista Grande (Casa Grande, AZ)
Location: Salpointe Catholic High School

Arizona doesn't have as many High Schools as Texas and there are only 7.2 million people in the whole state compared to 25-30 million in Texas. There is a 1A-6A classes and Salpointe is a private school listed as 4A. Look at his film and how he breaks away from and runs through defenses. He's solid. He'll have an adjustment going to the P5 level of play, which should be expected, but he will be a good RB for us.

"9/13 7:00p @ Del Valle (El Paso, TX)"

I'm seeing the potential for a 300+ yard game here...

From Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports:

When Robinson originally called Drayton and told him he was going elsewhere, Drayton was "very considerate" according to Clea and said "I got your back, great to meet you."
"It made it easier for Bijan to say I need to get back with him later on, he’s easy to communicate with."
Drayton’s pedigree on the college and professional level certainly helped, and the stage at Texas was big too, but the connection as people was the difference.

So Drayton's low key and honest approach resonated at the end.

The magnitude of Bijan Robinson committing to Texas

You gotta love McConaughy's remarks to BJ
That He Matthew hoped BJ would come to Texas but wished him well not matter what and to always keep God in his life.

I know they play up their "domination" of the big12, but, other than that...I'd love to hear insight from any here as to what other obtuse angles they take to steer recruits away from the object of their obsession.
...Serious question...I am curious.

Why does Crystal Balls still show aggie commit Desmond Demas as high percentage to TEXAS
3 out of 4 CB last Fall of '18 to Texas. Hell, he is here so often he probably has a room in the dorm.

He could be rethinking jumping into the dumpster fire that is Collie Station.

Well, riddle me this: If OU can Hornsnoggle a recruit that bogusly, do we really want that brainless recruit?

We did not make LB Justin Flowe's Final 4

Aha! I was envisioning in my head that old map showing Texas with strips going all the way to Wyoming and California.
Right on AZ vs. NM HS football. AZ might as well be California when it comes to HS FB talent per capita. Next door, NM has got to be one of the worst states in the Union for HS FB.
With both AZ schools in the dumps, USC down, and UCLA fallen off a cliff, it's prime pickins for us in Arizona. Good job staff!

I think it included most of Colorado.
But yeah Beck deserves a lot of of the credit for making and maintaining this Zonie connection

A) They don't have to play up anything. If a recruit goes to OU odds are they will win at least two conference championships while in school there but probably more.

B) I would remove the quotes from dominance.

C) It doesn't take much to explain to a recruit considering other schools when our last conference championship was and how many we've won since the Big XII started.

We own this problem and it's up to Herman and Co to change it. We have to do more than just win the annual showdown. We have to win nearly every conference game for the next decade to get close.

I totally agree, Vol. I figured some might question my use of quotes there. You're right to do so.
I was just...uh..quoting them lol....;)
It is a valid point and one they absolutely should drive home...while they still can.
I'm just curious what other, non-legit, propaganda they spew.
To your point, I will go back and remove the quotes.

Edit: I went back and tried....couldn't do it. Not that the feature isn't allowed...just couldn't do it. :idk:

2020 4-star DE Princely Umanmielen (6'4,249) of Manor was trending to us for awhile early, then ou, then aggy. TFB thinks he is now trending back towards us. He attended the Terry Price BBQ last weekend but apparently Terry overcooked the brisket, just like Muschamp suggested he would. He is supposed to announce in Oct. As always, we will see.

Herman can't make up for the failings of Mack Brown or Charlie Strong, all he can do is win the games in front of him. I feel really good about our chances this year.

I have no idea why blOwU is ranked so high to start this season.

1. they are breaking in a brand new QB, yes, Riley is a QB whisper, but not every qb is a heisman winner.
2. They lose 4 of their 5 starting offensive linemen.
3. They kept most of that terrible defense.

They do have some great backs and receivers, but I just don't see them beating Texas this season. Wouldn't it be funny if Texas beats both Oklahoma and LSU and both those schools go on to have crappy seasons. Then we will hear aggy talk about how we didn't play anyone this year.

Something from the Longhorn Blitz podcast by 247
One of the discussions was whether Whittington would move back to receiver with Bijan now in the house. According to Mike Roach quoting a source, JWhit would stay at RB, because he is that good there.

Seems like a lot of projection/assumptions on how Hurts will perform in that offense

Bru officially out of the calculator, heh

Wrong, he was still a signee, even if it was only Spring Camp for Him.

I am fairly certain he is in misery now as no way he gets a hardship waiver and he is back at the team in the system he totally disrespected before coming to Texas. But at least they are getting some 3 Star castoffs. And he has his Homies to hang out with at the beach.

Should have listened to his parents and his true self like Bijan did and at least followed through on his commitment for a year. His joy in playing football has nowhere to go but down for now.

I think it would be even funnier if we beat LSU and they win SEC and we win B12. Hilarity would ensue and the red carpet to the CFP would be rolled out to the feet of Texas.
