2020 Recruiting - Football

And in the SWC days before Arkansas left, they were our biggest rivals. Not eATMe and not blow OU.. Arkansas was.

And like every other school on our schedule, they live to beat to beat us and it makes their year no matter how good or bad we are.

A whole ot of Arkansas is not as backwards as you think. There is a ton of influential people there and a ton of money there. And it has always been that way.
After the Waltons, who? I mean compared to America's large cities.

In Seattle a couple of decades ago you did not count unless you were in the two digit Billions.

The Waltons gave the money for the arena, but how many of them went to school there? Johnny Tyson runs the school. The mattress man and Murphy brothers have a say. I was told that the restaurant guy has died, but I haven't confirmed that. I think the person who told me that confused him with Smith from Sonic.

There is plenty of money in Seattle, and except for Paul Allen, I've never sat across the table from any of their "billionaires" that could spell football.

How much has our Mexican billionaire given to our program? How about our Saudi prince?

FWIW, neither of the two guys that brought Saban to Tuscaloosa are "billionaires".

Give me an effing break! So now he is going to a low ball school? What a princess.

Yeah, but you know the mantra of some of the guys. "I'm Great! I should start day one! I'm gonna set new records! If I don't start the 1st game I'll enter the transfer portal! I want to do 3 seasons then jump to the League! I'll be a 1st rounder!"

Then reality sets in. I think these type guys are more like "The Emperor Has No Clothes," when the real hitting starts and they get exposed as having potential, but also nothing is handed to them, so they have to work hard to earn PT. Some don't want to do that.

Going into the last weekend of this recruiting season, we are supposed to be good shape with Collins and Dixon.

We are not leading with Princely (sounds like Florida).

They are calling Rakestraw a "toss up" but this is before we get him on campus for his final OV. Missouri is still pushing hard, did their in home with him last night

Mike Roach still thinks Texas can turn Princely this weeked
Texas was able to get Princely Umanmielen back in for an official visit starting last night, and it should run through Saturday. This was a huge step for the Longhorns in their pursuit to recover the former commit. Umanmielen is high on Florida and Baylor seems to be making their way back into the picture. There’s been some talk that Umanmielen could make a return visit to Baylor over the weekend, and Auburn is in the picture as well. There’s some cautious optimism in Austin, but they’ll need to navigate the weekend.

.

We also have a bunch of UOVs this weekend. We cant see anyone for a month after this, so its a big weekend not just for the 2020s. Also, a lot of these guys have special trainers/handlers so we might be charting a different course starting with them. We will see.

CB Ishmael Ibraheem, Dallas Kimball (2021)
WR Quaydarius Davis, Dallas Skyline (2021)
TE Landen King, Atascocita (2021)
TE Trent McGaughey, Alvin Shadow Creek (2022)
WR Teddy Knox, The Woodlands
LB Martrell Harris, The Woodlands (2022)

The billionaires in Seattle play on a much larger stage than college football. Allen went to WSU and has left some money there, and all over Seattle and other places.

Gates went to Harvard. Not sure about the McCaw (Craig went to Stanford) brothers or Bezos (Princeton) or Schultz (Northern Michigan?). And those are just the new money people. None are involved in UW football as far as I know. But all are involved on the world stage.

Biggest guy with interest in college athletics is Phil Knight of Nike who has financed UO for decades.

And there are hundreds of billionaires around the country that can play on any stage they desire and they choose college football as one of them. In every State.

Hundreds? maybe including the single digits.

Phil Knight is certainly the richest one I have heard about. I think his wealth is greater than T. Boone Pickens was.

OB says Princely Umanmielen's planned OV to Auburn is now off
They say if he goes anywhere this weekend, it will be Baylor

Dallas Morning News Defensive Player of the Year (a/k/a the best Defensive player in the Dallas area at any position). His film shows outstanding closing speed and nose for the ball. He really likes to hit too. Great to bring him in, and hopefully bring him onboard.

Watch his highlight film. His positioning is perfect. Yes, he has speed also.

Well, the quoted text from earlier said Williams would be coming to Austin for an OV this weekend.
The newer post was an update that said things changed and he is no longer coming to Austin for an OV.
Sorry if I was too brief.
JF, was just trying to make a bad joke but want to make sure you took none of it as criticism of your post.… Your staying on top of recruiting is awesome for the rest of us! Thanks and hook em!

A potential GT transfer is WR Tarik Black from Michigan - we are trying to get him in for a visit. He has talent, makes good cuts on film and is 6'3, 215 but his career has mostly been interrupted by injury. We have a good sales pitch with a senior QB and thn depth chart but he will probably take all his visits.
