2020 Recruiting - Football

Jerry Gray was, perhaps, the best defensive back ever to play for Texas. I would settle for Bijan leaving Texas with being rated as one of the all time best running backs ever to play here.

Maybe you meant Jonathan Gray from Aledo who did not live up to expectations. Bijan has quickness and speed and the ability to break a tackle or two.

I never saw shiftiness in Jonathan, or the ability to make guys miss. Bijan makes people miss. They are not the same type of runner. I'm betting on Bijan to get it done at the highest level if he stays healthy.

I stand corrected, I did mean Jonathan...my bad
Jonathan was all-world also coming out of HS...I do think Bijan is a little bit more shifty and I hope that makes a difference.

Princely is an absolute class changer. Not because is he’s the `bests, but because killer end rush so completely changes this D-dynamic. We got good guys and they may become very good, but we don’t have ‘game changer’ good yet.. having two at once isn’t double as good. It is good squared. Ain’t no way to double team both and have any run game. No way. Prince and Princeley totally changes the whole defense. Just one admittedly biased opinion, but look at Chase Young. Bosa’s etc. LB get to play LB, what a notion.

I also think it helps that we are getting other top recruits from Arizona. Last year Jake Smith and this year Bijan. We really need him bad. He’s a shut down corner.
He never came for an official visit did he? Without a DC, I doubt we have a shot.

I admit I am a little surprised given so much of the commentary about him centered around him wanting to be close to one of his parents who has had some health concerns

TFB says we went to see DE Princely Umanmielen (Manor) recently and things went so well that they now think he might stick with us. The indication was that we were focussing the new defensive scheme and staff (whatever and whoever that is)

I can't comment on him coming back until I see who the DC is going to be. I can say that the two biggest deficiencies was a true DE that can get to the QB. Right now I'm really hoping we can convince Collins to come to Texas, but it's not looking good. The other is more linebackers. I'm less concerned about DBs because they will improve as our pass rush improves.

I know Bijan is a huge get, but Ringo is a program changer for us IMO.
We have good DB’s I think he will push everyone on the back end, and breath new life into the D. Again just my humble opinion, this dude is special

Bijan is a potential Heisman candidate. I have cooled a bit on Ringo, yes, he could be a game changer like Stingly was for LSU, but he also might take time to get to know the system like Cook. Yes we still need him and yes, he is still the most complete DB I've seen on the high school level in years. But I also can't get my hopes up.

Bijan is a program changer and Bijan is a game changer. Great speed, great moves--can take it to the house on any play.

Bijan is Jamal Charles 2.0, or Reggie Bush 2.0, I haven't decided yet. He is by far the best back we recruited since Charles.

There are three programs you have to be careful of the running backs coming out of those programs it's Katy, Allen, and Aledo. All three of those programs are so well coached and have so much talent that guys coming out look much better than they really are or they have already peaked.

Bijan does not fit in those categories. You will know more about him in the all star game.

Mike Roach saying Ty Jordan may flip to Utah.
Dang it. I really like this sort of super quick scat-back WR/RB type player like Ty Jordan or Mookie. It seems like whenever we face one, he’s good for 150+ total yards on us. I hope we keep Ty J.

Ty: Salt Lake is cooler than it used to be, but it still sucks compared to Austin.

It appears RB Kevontre Bradford of Lancaster is the plan if things go sideways with RB Ty Jordan

Wiltfong on Bradford

" ... Herman and his staff have continued to recruit other running backs. A name to keep an eye on moving forward is Lancaster (Texas) High Top247 running back Kevontre Bradford. Texas went and saw him on Tuesday, and Bradford isn't expected to sign until February.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite tabs Bradford as the nation's No. 14 running back and No. 136 prospect overall. 247Sports National Analyst Gabe Brooks compares Bradford's game to Longhorns running back Keaontay Ingram.

"Big-play running back with adequate height and frame for the position. Lean and muscular with enough space to add weight in college and play in the 210-215 range. Capable of playing running back, receiver, or safety at Power Five level, but projects best to RB. Slashing galloper who hits the hole with purpose, whether downhill or on the cutback. Dangerous in the stretch game. Impressive stop-start burst for a long-strider with somewhat longer frame. Flashes great acceleration off stops. Good top-end speed thanks to initial burst and long-striding speed-building. Flashes home run-hitting ability against strong high school competition. Athleticism not verified in combine testing environment. Upright runner who can improve pad level. Limited pass-catching opportunities to date. High-major running back prospect with big-play and high-volume capabilities. Should become a quality P5 starter with long-term NFL Draft ceiling."

This fall Bradford rushed for 1,563 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Of course Texas has arguably the top running back in this class Bijan Robinson committed. Pairing a guy like Bradford with him would give the Longhorns arguably the best duo anywhere in the country this cycle. "

Some Texas RB recruiting buzz

I hate that Ty flipped. He is very slippery, good receiver, and fast. Would have been a nice compliment to Bijan. A super one-two punch. Damnit!! :brickwall:
