It's more people who have the right sounding names like Green over Garcia in a GoP primary or Martinez over Johnson in a Democratic primary. Or people like Ken Law getting elected judge because his last name is Law.
If you recall, there was a comedy movie entitled "The Distinguished Gentleman" in the 90s that made a parody of name recognition. The Distinguished Gentleman - Wikipedia. In this movie, Eddie Murphy gets himself elected to Congress by name recognition of the previous Congressman named Jeff Johnson. Murphy's character is named Thomas Jefferson Johnson, so he abbreviates his middle name and puts himself on the ballot as "Jeff Johnson." Using the theme "the name you know," he gets elected.
It's an obvious farcical comedy, but it makes you wonder how many people vote for the "name you know" without any thought.
There are a lot off truths in that movie. What you mentioned and the whole point of the movie is about him being a con man and what he witnessed in D.C. is nothing compared to what he had done in the past.
When Sam Johnson retiree as a Republican Rep for Plano and other parts of Collin County the Dems found a black man named Sam Johnson and somehow convinced him to run. He made the run offs but didn't make it to general election. Actually he seemed more conservative than liberal

When I first moved to South Carolina back in 1988, I would attend several churches just to meet people and have a nice up lifting Sunday. I once visited an AMC church in Charleston.
I could not believe what I saw, they had a spiritual sermon some singing and then they had some guy get up with an overhead projector, he put up a ballot and explained how to fill it out and vote for the Democrat on the ticket. The jest of the message was if you want to keep your welfare this is what you do.
I was young, but still came away feeling extremely shocked that they would do this. I'm a little more experienced now, and understand what I was seeing, still it was an eye opener.

You actually believe China? It really amazes me how the network news/libs with their "Russia, Russia, Russia" crap are now sucking China's dick at every opportunity.
Just think about how bad of shape we would be in right now with a democrat president in office with no travel restrictions to China and Europe.
I honestly don't believe most Democratic president would actually have kept travel open to China and Europe. I think they faked their opposition to the ban to justify calling Trump a racist. Keep in mind that Biden now says it should have been done sooner.
I agree that regardless of party, I think that every POTUS to date wants what is best for Americans. However, the political pressure from the far left is more about not offending the world then protecting Americans. BTW, I think a coherent Joe does too. But he is no longer all there.
Given the Libs propensity to wail and cry about keeping borders open, even when it violates laws, I respectfully disagree.
A dem POTUS might have wanted what was best for Americans, but he/she would be too preoccupied with trying staff a task force that included the right balance of transgenders and POCs to actually get anything done.
And intelligence says bye bye!
